It is tough to tell what he is talking about in the video when referencing the cross hair, but trust me, it is in the program.  And it works very nice!

It isn't mine at all.  I was just trying to help him get it out to the public.  He first posted it on accurateshooter.com, but was using free file hosting sites that either gave you the run around to actually download the file or a bunch of porn adds, so I added the file to my OneDrive to help.  I'd contact the maker on his YouTube video page if you are really serious about helping him.

Anyway to get hold of the developer short of creating an account on youtube?

I'm having issues with getting the scale set right.  When I go across my target picture, (diagonally across and 8-1/2x11 sheet of paper which is 13.9 inches) I'm getting two blue lines and the circles for 223 holes are too small.

Edit: If you can get hold of him, here's what's happening.

Zoomed in on the pic a little to get it to fill the window.  Set upper left to lower right of the paper.

After entered the 13.9 measurement, it draws two blue lines.  The lower one is correct, the upper one appears to be the one it uses to calculate

Since the scale is incorrect, the holes are not the correct diameter

The blue line it saved which is too long and messing up the scale.

I don't know why the orange circle is so large in this picture.  I don't see any extra red holes.  When I reloaded the target and tried a 2nd time, the the group size was correct.  Some place I changed 200 yards to 100 yards and maybe that had something to do with it.

Here are the OnTarget calculations for that picture

Savage MPV 556, 12x SWFA scope, Harris bipod, squeeze bag, 100 yards.

Just let me know if I can do anything to help him.

I can't see your pictures, but you could find him in the accurateshooters forum.  I'll link this thread there and maybe he'll sign up here.

AccurateShooter

One thing I did when getting a measurement was to use a vertical measurement.  He uses a horizontal in his video.  Might try a smaller measurement too.

If you look at my second picture in the first post, it looks like I might have done a diagonal measurement across both targets, but I measured from top to bottom of the left and it put in the diagonal blue line when I was done.  I thought I had done something wrong and tried it again, only to have it show up like that.

Thank you to Number40Fan for sharing the video and screenshots here and extra thanks for hosting it on OneDrive (the free sites I tried were, as they said in Waterworld, "undesirable").

I've been hampered by trouble finding a "desirable" hosting platform for the software (I don't have a personal or professional website and haven't in some time), so this help has been a Godsend.

I'm the guy who wrote this.

I'm on this thread now and will try to keep up with it here as well as on AccurateShooter.  To keep expectations realistic; I haven't been a programmer in several years and that was with VB6 (I shut my little software company down in 2014 and hadn't had to tweak any code in at least a year before that).  I'm new to .NET/Visual Studio.  I wrote this for me but can't pass up the opportunity to help others who would like a free solution, but don't expect this to evolve as quickly as a product from a for-profit company.  If you have problems, I'll try to help.  Be polite, mind your manners.

Thank you.  I will get on the rest of the posts shortly...

Free is my favorite four-letter F word.

I've not planned on releasing the source code for a couple of reasons.  That is not my final word on the matter and, if there's ever to be a smartphone/tablet app version, I will have to open-source it;  I looked at writing an Android app about 1.5 years ago for another purpose...EEK!  OMG, no thank you.  I'm too old and it's too foreign.  Yes, an App would be more useful in today's world of smart phones and tablets and non-PC world.

Thanks for your interest.

Hello, I'm the developer.  That's odd, obviously it shouldn't do that.  Can you please provide me with the original image you're using (full size)?  I PM'd my e-mail address.

Thanks for your interest and help in improving this program.  I can't test all possible scenarios so it's helpful to have a multitude of others try it out.

I'm not sure what the problem is; I tested the software with both the scanned images (one seen in the instructional video) and a cell cam pic and it worked.  :-/

Thanks for joining us in this thread. Your app looks quite nice and rather useful.

Also, don't push too hard for app-i-fying your code. Not everyone can really work well on a tiny mobile display, and I doubt anyone will perish from not having pretty graphics till they get home to a full size computer.

Thanks again for your help, #40Fan.

This behavior is not desired.  It should work no matter if you draw it left to right or top to bottom or whatever.  However, since I tested it in development only only one way...  :)

I'll get working on this as it may fix the problem that TripletDad is having.

You're welcome and thank you.

I, personally, think the whole "app" craze is nuts; maybe I'm the guy swearing by his Model T, but I don't understand how folks get stuff done on phones and tablets without a tactile keyboard and a mouse.  :)  I've got a 17" laptop and, when I'm home, I have my desktop split onto a 21" screen for duals.  Life, liberty, and the pursuit of screen space...

Now, if they come out with an app that'll turn that POS handheld shopping cart into a phone, well, I'll probably try that.  :)

A big problem I'm having after the first use with v4 and same problem persisted after installing v4001 is that the last 3 steps are all red. Meaning I can't even set the reference line. The pointer is a crosshair and all I can do is mark bullet holes.

Second problem I have is that I think it has a measuring issue. I checked some targets that I had measured with a caliper previously and the readings varied like 3% to 5% smaller.
First number my measurment, 2nd is target4 measurment:
1.622-1.553
2.287-2.209
2.091-2.025

Third issue is that sometimes when I click a scroll button, it will jump several clicks in the opposite direction.

I thank the developer for releasing this as freeware. I post this only to help find bugs.

This is on a W10 ver 1709 build 16299.431 64bit/Ryzen 5 1600X/16GB

Morning_Wood:

Hello and thanks for your post; bug/trouble reports are very helpful in making the program better.  Thanks, also, for your time.

Next, there is a new version (TarGEt4002.zip) on the AccurateShooter forum thread.  It should correct *ALL* the garbage with the dim line moving around, not being consistent, and bullet holes migrating and being the wrong size.  Number40Fan has been a great help by hosting this on his OneDrive account and may post a link here if he puts this current version up there.

I'm not certain but maybe this is relevant: the steps will turn green *after* the steps have been performed.

I screwed up and used an incorrect variable in one location in the code which caused bullet holes to be drawn too small, the dim line and bullet holes to migrate as you zoom in and out, and male pattern baldness.  My test images I used were done on a flatbed scanner which scanned the targets at 1:1 so I never saw this error in my testing.  However, when I got a test image from a user which was done with a digital camera (cell camera) which was certainly NOT at 1:1, the problems became obvious.

The zoom in and out has been improved quite a bit because it was sketchy and spastic like a cat on meth.  The scrollbars still will be a little tweaky but are improved and should be acceptably functional for now, perfection will take a minute.... :)

Thanks for your feedback.  Please let me know if the new version does not correct the problems you've had.
