I'd do it there or on the last few T-slots of the upper rail.

Why not just engrave on the barrel? A 13" on the SCAR should have plenty of room to engrave there...and yes, the barrel is an approved engraving location.
Not so much space to engrave on the 10.5" 16 barrel, but there should be plenty on the 17's barrel. |
