Well I waited the weekend to test more batteries (still not powering up) and now the unit is showing discontinued on Adorama, I can get a refund from them but no replacement.

Has anyone used the RMA process from FLIR?  Will they even accept it since it is discontinued?

Another lesson in you snooze you lose I guess.

So just checking, but if I pick up this pack:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WTQHK27?tag=arfcom00-20

I should be pretty similar to what you're running?

Those are not rechargeable, just regular CR123s

I'm new to thermal stuff, but against most advice I bought a Cat S32 phone with Flir camera.

No wonder the Predator uses this. Is awesome, and I find a use for it daily. What is the OTM bring discussed here?

I ordered some 16650s claiming 2500mAh ratings - will run them through my Xtar charger to see what it comes up with and then try in the OTM and report back of course.

Slight interim update:
-Unsurprisingly, the "2500mAh" 16650 batteries only test out to around 1800mAh
-The unit will *NOT* power on with the 16650 cell(s) in the disposable pack, but they fit beautifully
-Some poking around with a continuity tester supports the idea that there is actual componentry in the disposable battery pack, all the negatives are common but the positives and what appears to be their connection to the power connector act like there's an active circuit in between them

So my current working theory is that the factory rechargeable pack either includes a voltage boosting power converter *OR* provides some indication/connection to a lower voltage than what the factory disposable battery pack includes.  I don't have the rechargeable pack to compare, but I'll try and work out the disposable pack's connections and someone with the rechargeable pack can report those.

Perhaps, but looking into the rechargeable realm of 123's. I mistakenly posted non-rechargeable ones.

I am using 6 of these, only because I had them on hand. they work, but they are far from high quality batteries.

Not yet, but at $12/pack of 8 including a charger I'm in!  Of course I had to order 3 to save the shipping, so ~$39 OTD for 24 batteries and 3 chargers.

FWIW, the other Ravpower cells measure right around 700 mAh in my charger, so hopefully these really are 850s, but that's a good price even for 700mAh RCR123A from what I can see....

Small update, FLIR accepted the RMA for warranty work and I just dropped it off at the UPS store.  I'll update again once it comes back.

Grabbed 4 of the cells and all come up as 800-850 mAh, so seem to be great!

Any tricks to getting the GPS to lock? Stood outside for 10-15 minutes and didn't get anything on info screen #4....  Can't find an enable/disable option anywhere either?

Got mine back from FLIR today, everything seems to be working now and I got a bonus set of CR 123 cells and another carry pouch.
