Is there any blade worth buying at a sub $100 price point? One that was recommended to me before was the cold steel gi tanto which is a sweet knife, but I'm looking for something a little smaller. I was looking at this but I'm not very knowledgeable in this area. I'm looking for something that I'd it gets broken, lost or damaged or won't be a big deal.

Another one for ESEE. Solid knife and warranty.

ESEE 3 or Izula. They come sharp, are easy to maintain, sheath isn’t bad, and the warranty is awesome.

So back in my active duty days, SOG Seal Pups were the most common fixed blade knives we carried.   If you lost one over the side during boarding they were reasonably inexpensive and sold at both the NEX and PX systems.   Still have a SOG Seal Pup Elite on one of my plate carriers, holds an edge well and its a tough blade.   For wood craft I carry a ESEE 4, it's my constant companion when I wander into the woods.

Best budget fixed blade I have is Made in Finland - sold by Varusteleka - the Terävä Jääkäripuukko 140 (digit is the blade length in mm, they do a shorter 110mm version)

It is one of the best knives I have used. Quality of it is way beyond the cost price....by a good margin. Scary sharp.
I opted for the plain 140 without scabbard, just the plastic blade protector, as I will make a scabbard or two for it once I have a couple of other projects out of the way.

Definitely looking at an esee 3 or 4 now. Thanks everyone.

Also I stumbled upon this buck knife. Honestly, I noticed it only because I think it looks sweet . Any experience or opinions would be welcomed and appreciated.

The ESEE knives are excellent. I have a Kabar BK15 I love (that one is discontinued but there are a bunch of good Becker/BK options still). The Cold Steel SRK is good too.

My gal just received my Esee 3 in venom green, which was supposed to come before Christmas. Oh well...$86+ shipped.

Knife Connection IIRC.

Yes, there are sub $100 knives that are worth owning. What do you want to do with it? Process game? Food prep? Hike and camp? Fire building? General utility? How important is corrosion resistance to you? Do you EDC a folder? Mora, KA-BAR, Esee, Terävä Jääkäripuukko, Cold Steel are some of the brands that I own.

BuckLite MaxII large is an outstanding fixed blade for around $25. I like it better than my ESEE 4 for many tasks.

Outright dollar for dollar value, it’s hard to beat Mora knives. They are 3/4 tang, stainless or carbon steel, scandi grind knives and can be had from about $12 up to around $50 if I recall correctly. But it all depends on what you are looking for from your fixed blade. General purpose, moderately heavy duty knife that doesn’t need a specific “look”, they’re definitely worth looking at, function over form. I keep a stainless Mora in the console of my truck.

Hard use, full tang, carbon steel, ESEE all day. My go to fixed blade on a “duty” load out is an ESEE 4. With some shopping, you should be able to tuck in under $100. Again more function over form, but not ugly, and man do they function.

The Gerber Strongarm linked in your post would be great for your purposes. Check out some reviews of it on YouTube. It’s a great knife for the money with a very versatile sheath.

I'd take a Cold Steel SRK over a Gerber Strongarm because 420hc is garbage steel. SK-5 is okay.

Ka Bar Mark 1

They are good knives and they usually sell below $70ish at dealers.

They can take a beating.

Where did you pick these up used? I have not seen used ESEE's out in the wild....

If the jäärapukko is too much of a pain to get, you can pick up a Morakniv Companion Heavy Duty in stainless for $22 on Amazon, including a sheath. In hindsight the non heavy duty is probably plenty tough. The blade is slightly longer than the jäärapukko 110.

You can go lower on the swedish knife scale into "trade knives" that the tradespeople use for scoring drywall during the week and gutting fish on weekends, so they're tough as hell.
