I have a 2018 Colt Socom lower I am SBR'ing on Form 1 and have a couple questions - Its been 8 years since my last Form 1 and want to be sure I have it correct.

1. What do I use for the Model #? M4a1 or LE6920Socom (I believe that is what is listed on the box)

2. What is the OAL for 11.5in barrel?

3. Do I complete the a Form 5320.23 if I am filing as individual?

Thanks

1. What do I use for the Model #? M4a1 or LE6920Socom (I believe that is what is listed on the box) - Use the model that is marked on the receiver. If the model doesn't exist, which i'm sure it does, then make sure to include a picture of the receiver markings. Eforms should have a drop down of all the previously used models.

2. What is the OAL for 11.5in barrel? - I've put all my 11.5" AR SBRs at 26" for OAL and never had an issue

3. Do I complete the a Form 5320.23 if I am filing as individual? - No, the 5320.23 is only for responsible persons  that are filing under a trust

Thanks - the receiver states the below:

"Property of the US Govt.
M4A1 Carbine
Cal. 5.56 mm."

So I guess it would be M4A1 Carbine

3. Do I enter my photo instead of the 5320.23?

In regards to #2, they’ll approve whatever. So to say “I’ve always put XX and been approved” means nothing. They don’t know what you’re building.

A general rule of thumb is barrel length plus 19” covers most AR builds.

Thanks - makes sense, I just checked my 10.5in SBR and it listed 29.5in

On the eform photo, is it acceptable to take in front of a white door? I don’t have any white walls in my house.

Do you have a white sheet?

Yes - I do. Would that be the safest route?

It doesn’t have to be in front of a white wall. It doesn’t even have to be in front of a solid color wall.

My last couple paper forms had a pic taken (by the dealer) in front of a bookcase with a MAGa hat visible.

Remember...it’s not a Passport Photo. It’s a “passport-style” photo, meaning shoulders to top of head. There’s not even a requirement for it to be in color, and for paper forms it doesn’t have to be on photo paper.

Basically, don’t overthink it.

Awesome thanks - where do I attach the pic on the eform? Where the 5320.23 goes?

Thanks folks - I completed and submitted my eForm 1 tonight. I have 1 last question (hopefully), What do I send to my Sheriff? I received 2 attachments from the ATF, 1) A Cover letter for Fingerprints and 2) a copy of what looks to be a copy of my application.

Are they processing E-forms during the shutdown?

Copy of the Form 1 goes to CLEO.

Cover letter for FPs, amazingly enough, goes to the ATF with the FP cards.

Wow, I have not done a Form 1 in awhile. I thought there was no requirement to notify CLEO.

The CLEO Certification (signature/approval) for individuals, which wasn’t required for entities, was replaced with CLEO Notification for all individuals and RPs (no signature required) at the time of submission.

Did you guys instantly get an email with the cover after the eForm was submitted? I submitted mine today and haven’t received an email.

My first one I didn't. It took until the next day for me to get it but I also went back in and went through all the steps again just to be sure I didn't forget to hit something.

My last one was emailed right away.

A couple of weeks ago I submitted a Form 1 (Trust) and had to do a 5320.23.  I think you must do the same thing as an individual.  Take a look at the following tutorial:

No, 5320.23 is for entities only.  Taken from the tutorial you linked:

"If you are filing as an entity, everyone who is considered a Responsible Person in your trust or LLC needs to fill out an ATF 5320.23 Responsible Person Questionnaire. All Responsible Persons must be listed on this page and their 5320.23 forms uploaded using the 'Choose File' button seen below. It's grayed out (inactive) if filing as an individual."
