That's where I purchase mine. Not digging colored Boolits, think I'll get a couple pounds of clear.

I’m wrong.

It seems like usually our moderator would tell most to post it on the tacked where/want to find link thread.

Maybe I don’t understand the nuances associated with posting in this forum.

Why is this post different?

It's not a WTF post, or look here this store has this bullet post.

It's something new like a new tumbler of press coming out.

I am sure if I ask my contact at the local tire shop I could get a pile of it.

Some time and a little effort gets you lots of colorful bullets to shoot.

If you have a tire shop contact you should be good to go. Making friends at the local scrap yard is good as well. Just be aware there are more and more zinc wheel weights out there than ever before, sort before smelting.

Are there particular types to avoid, or that work better? I seem to recall reading that gloss is preferred.

If you buy from Smoke 4320 from Cast Boolits all of his colors will work for coating bullets
as he personally tries them before he will sell them.

Considered it, and he seems like a good shit. But in my case, Amazon is cheaper, faster, and it's easier to just add it to an existing order.

I ordered some of Smoke's powder and BB's. They shipped today.

Unfortunately, the order will be coming via USPS, so it's anybody's guess when it will arrive.

But in the meantime, I've been gathering the other items I need to cast and powder coat.

I have red and blue powder coat so far. Think I will add green and color code my ammo. Red for hot stuff, blue mid range and green for mellow.
This would help when you deal with things like subsonic/supersonic and working with various pistols cartridges. Loading for 45 ACP and 45 Super it is a god send.

Ordered both from Smoke and Amazon. So far, the Eastwood grey seemed to work better than the Flame Red (or fire...whatever it was) from Smoke. Of course, I'm a noob at PC so could jsut be me. The grey seemed to be a more even coat, whereas the red wasn't as solid. Both held up to the hammer test though!

First batch or two used aluminum foil on a cookie sheet. Worked, but the bullets tended to stick a bit. Parchment paper is the way to go....zero stick.

I bought 3 Eastwood colors (Dark Green, Henry's Light Blue, and Red Wagon) in anticipation of an upcoming large 9mm casting session. Looking forward to trying them out.

Just got 1lb Ford dark blue and 1/2lb medium green  from Eastwood.
I was a little disappointed that I only received 1/2lb of green (I thought I had ordered 1lb but I checked and sure enough I hadn't) but seeing as I've been working through HF red for thousands of bullets and still have half a container leftover that 1/2lb of green should last quite awhile.

Like you I have to cast some more 9mm.

I had good results with HF red, meh results with HF black (had to do two coats) and no luck whatsoever with HF yellow: refused to stick at all.

This is my first non-Harbor Freight powder so I am looking forward to improving my process and results with a better powder!
