Im painting a blued ruger mkIII stormtrooper white, should I use scotch brite to scuff up the surface? I am trying to make it as glossy as I can.

You do need to put a little "tooth" on the surfaces for better adhesion.  Shine will be a function of what Duracoat product you chose to apply.  A very light sandblasting with fine media is what I've used successfully.

Sadly the sandblasters I have access to are all glass bead. TY folks. Got some white paint got some gloss coat from duracoat and now to engrave the grips with the empire logo.
