Just wondering, do you take your batteries out of your night vision and thermal devices everytime or if you plan on using them the next day or next few days do you leave them in? Anyone keep their batteries in for an extended period of time?

This question is for both but mostly thermal devices.

The PVS14 I keep by my nightstand for inspecting bumps in the night I keep a battery in. I change it on a regular basis but always keep one installed.

If I had any devices that were more pricey to fix than replacing a PVS14's battery compartment, I would probably take them out.

Not at the moment.  The only NV Device I have runs on a CR123.  While not impossible for something to go bad I don't worry about those like I do alkaline batteries.

Yes, I was taking the CR123 out of my atpial but I started leaving it in recently. PVS14 always gets emptied though.

Yes, because I never use it.

I take CR123 out only if I know the device is not going to be used in a while. in other words, in the summer, 2 months out of 12 when it's too bright for NODs. If they were alkaline then I'd be sure to check it hourly

I've been leaving the CR123 in my Breach pretty much full time, but I use it at least briefly almost nightly, at most it goes a couple days without use.

Always in the PVS. Rarely in the IR lasers

Yes.  Have had numerous other things get damaged  by leaking batteries over the years.  Can't afford to have that happen to a $3600  nvd.
