D740 mount removal - Page 1

Night Optics d740. I’ve got the Mod Armory riser and a qd mount. Got the 3 screws out of the factory mount but it won’t budge. Does it slide off? I don’t want to get too physical with it. Suggestions from someone who’s done this?

You may to apply some slight heat from a blow dryer and them tap with a rubber mallet. It will come off.

Thanks Vic. Little heat and it popped off. Shit load of glue under there. Feels so much better in a larue acog mount. This optic needs a better factory mount imo.

What is shortcoming of OEM mount?

This is an older scope so I don’t know what they come with now. The throw levers are wobbly. I haven’t tested its return to zero capability but it feels cheap. I want high quality mounts for high quality optics and this oem mount screamed replace me.

Glad I could help.

Yea, we also back in the day did a Larue conversion mount. The original scope did not come with throw levers to keep the cost down. I still use the original screw mount on mine all these years. I know, old school but the screw mount has held fine all these years.

The newest line that comes with the D series are dual throw lever. While not Larue, we tested the 790 and 750's on 50BMG's and they held up fine. RTZ was within .75 to 1moa if replaced on the same rail spot.
