Well,
when's the last time you seen one of these for sale? Yep, that's right. It's a friggin', inert SADM backpack:

The seller included this pic just to further illustrate the usage.

For those unfamiliar with the SADM:

"The Special Atomic Demolition Munition (SADM) was a family of man-portable nuclear weapons fielded by the US military in the 1960s, but never used in combat. The US Army planned to use the weapons in Europe in the event of a Soviet invasion. US Army Green Light Teams or Engineer Atomic Demolition Munitions Specialists, would use the weapon to destroy, irradiate and deny key routes of communication through limited terrain such as the Fulda Gap. Troops were trained to parachute into Soviet-occupied western Europe with the SADM and destroy power plants, bridges, and dams."

That’s pretty crazy

Was it a ‘you don’t make it out either’ type of device?

I doubt any real ones would ever make it out....I'd be curious to know just how accurate it is....

and technically I wouldn't even call it ordnance, its essentially just a backpack/container, like a crate, or shipping tube....while neat, IMHO it's certainly not $9,500 neat, not without some sort of provenance to prove its a real one....

I have a BTM-71 TOW trainer missile the gunner skipped off the ground instead of pancaked against the tank.

Truth.

Its like saying the "neatest gay pr0n".  Weirdos.

Only LIVE ordnance is cool.

INERT is the desperate 9th place trophy - wanna-be - AIRSOFT of Ordnance.

And before anyone says "B-b-but I can't own LIVE ordnance"  Yes you can.  But its expensive.  Like Class III weapons, but more awesome-ER.

I don't "own" any, but I get to USE plenty with the GOV.

And get PAID for it.  Making money and getting BOOM-BOOM.

Oh, I definitely play the NFA game as well.

However, as far as boom goes, I really want an FIM-92 Stinger MANPAD...but I don't exactly see that happening on a Form 1 or 4 anytime soon.

Speaking about Stingers, anybody ever seen an actual NFA or inert one for sale?

There was this guy, who bought a Redye launcher tube in line at a "gun buy back" in Seattle for $100(LoL).....then proceeded to get his newly acquired launcher confiscated by the po-po:

That's some fine police work boys...

Those cops are fucking morons...do they also confiscate empty paper towel tubes, or giant industrial cardboard tubes?

An empty tube can't do shit without the missile inside, and M72 LAW tubes are all over the place...

But they went home safe, and not with a lump on their heads from getting clonked by an empty harmless tube....

*Snort. Slap a YETI sticker on it, and no one will be the wiser.

But yeah....The leftist media sensationalism, generated by parading empty fiberglass tubes around as live ordnance, is always "pants-on-head retard achievement level" unlocked:

Aw I was just teasing & joking about INERT stuff not being cool.

The live stuff is WAY better though, but, teaching aids and historical memorabilia has their places too!

I just saw an SA-7 tube and gripstock for $1800!!!!

Yes.  There were some Marine EOD out in Cherry Point (I believe) that were busted for selling damn near everything to undercover ATF agents & informants.  The article was covered by Playboy, but damned if I can find it.  The commanding officer was recorded brokering the deal with the Stinger missile and the undercover agents said they were going to use it to shoot down an airliner, to which the CO replied: ‘I don’t give a damn what you do with it as long as I get my money’ - or something to that effect!  The ATF had to take them down earlier than expected as they were running out of discretionary funds to make the purchases and they were worried the Marines were going to start selling to legit criminals...

The U.S. Gov paid around $75k per missile system from Raytheon.  Currently there are rumors of the US GOV buying back Stinger & other MANPAD missiles for around $100,000 to $750,000 per missile, so there is a market and its a deep pockets game to get into.

The U.S. Gov has asked Raytheon not to release their INERT bodies and missile systems as they may find their way into a tube and the US could end up paying a lot of money & buying them again.  There are stories of enterprising folks putting scrap steel, dirt & something with ventures in the bottom of the tube and then a 60w light bulb in the nose of the tube and selling it for a quarter million to plainclothes folks overseas...

The empty tubes for the stinger are not DEMIL’d until the buzzer is removed and the coil in the nose of the tube has been drilled in four places by a 1/2 drill bit, or cut length wise (with a saw or sawzall) in 4 to 6 places the length of the coil - which renders the coil useless.  A good used tube with an intact coil can still spin up a seeker head!

The expended motors, inerted warheads and DEMIL’d seeker heads come up time to time, but EXTREMEMLY rare.  The seeker head is classified as CONFIDENTIAL and has to be completely gutted of electronics and the dome is supposed to be broken for DEMIL.  They are a real pain in the dick to get the coupling rings for the sections all lined up on the LIVE ones (which oh yeah, are the fun ones!)

The gripstocks are a controlled item, but I imagine an enterprising person could 3D model and print the SHELL of the grip stock launcher and make a trundle of money!

The battery cooling units (BCU’s) are a different animal also, as they are a thermal battery and a cylinder of coolant.  Again, they could be 3D printed or use old expended BCU’s in a display.

Yep,
I've seen a couple SA-7 Grail/Strela tubes with the grip stock/battery for sale on Gun Broker. Robert Bowman also has/had a couple for sale.
Wow. That is more information than I would have ever expected to gain in regards to Stingers both live or inert. Answered a few of my questions I had floating around in my head.

I've seen like maybe 2, inert Red Eye tubes for sale before. What is the legality/demil process for those?

Here's a inert Red Eye tube that was on friggin' Armslist, of all places, a few years back:

Wow.

Ten grand. Too rich for me.

The last picture is of a toy. I got one on clearance, and threw the warhead away; it's not a US system. Kinda looks like a W84, definitely does NOT look like a SADM.
