I am looking to get a stainless 16" 357 lever action and the Rossi's seem to be forever retooling/discontinued. The Marlin looks like it is popping up here and there. I'd like to run this gun with Ghost sights only, therefore don't need that huge rail. Can the rail be removed without removing the rear sight or are they both the same piece?

they are both the same piece. taking the rail off, removes the rear sight as well.  I think you can buy just a rear peep sight though, and screw it right on.

I want that same gun, but threaded and in .44mag, or .45LC.
