I'm going to be having cable run in the near future for a major network upgrade in my home.  Since I'll have people out here anyway, I figured this would be the ideal time to run cable for an IP camera system.  However, in order to do that I need to know where I'll want cameras.  Below is the site plan for my property:

Brown is fence
Green is chain-link gate
Yellow is garage doors
Red is entry doors, front door is the southernmost

Looking for the most efficient placement, where would be the best spots?

If i were you I’d read over there for a few days to figure out what cameras you want first.  Also they will tell you to get a camera and mount it on a 2x4 with it in a bucket of rock and move it around your house where you would want cameras to see what it would look like before you go mounting cameras in the wrong location.  You dont want to mount a camera higher than about 8 feet if oyu are trying to to get a picture of someones face.

Thanks!  Definitely have a lot of reading to do.

I wasn't necessarily planning getting cameras at this point, just figured I'd get cable run while the contractor was out here.

FOV is important, if you want overlapping coverage. And with hoodies/hats, cameras up high suck.
