Nice! These are great. I brought one home from Ohio this year and my son and I rebuilt it (you can get parts from Champions Choice), re-worked the trigger, and refinished the stock together. It’s amazing. Velocity is 507 fps with a standard deviation of 0. Amazing accuracy for the price.

ETA: I notice you got one with the better stock (vertical pistol grip). That’s great. When I looked at their inventory in July only about 1 in 10 had that stock vs the more traditional sporter style angled grip. You scored.

Got to mess with the 853 this week. Refinished the stock with items on hand[Minwax Red Oak stain and Truoil]. Trigger seems okay so didn't touch it. Shot some CPHP 7.9s and RWS 8.3 in the basement[approx 27 ft]. After a fair amount of adjustment,I'm punching the center out of the target with either pellet. This rifle is going to be fun.

Got my two in today.
One looks great with just a little wood wear.  The other has a bent front sight, but I’m sure the CMP will take care of it..

Upgrade the sights to the Avanti’s and do the trigger job.  It is amazing how well they shoot.
This one was a blonde underneath and I added the Tubbs 4 way which really added some balance.  I am working on a cheaper butt plate option and a bloop tube addition.  I will be glad to forward the results when I get them.

You can modify your own trigger or buy the parts listed.

853 trigger job

Get the sights direct from Daisy.  Ignore the red prices, I was building 5 guns at the time.

Couple questions on these rifles:

what’s length of pull in stock configuration?

Do they have the umph to take a rabbit at close range? (10 yards and under).

These rifles are what is called single stroke pneumatics.  It is much like a pump up airgun, but you only need one pump.  Multiple pumps does not gain anything significant.   The lever is pulled down and forward to get air into the pump chamber and then compressed on the return stroke.

Working gun #2.  Added 1.5 pounds to the butt for balance.  Copper pipe and lead.
Added a bloop tube for about +6” on the sight radius.  Not a direct fit, machining required.
18 mm clear inserts will fit the Avanti front sight.  A little loose, so it will need to hand centered as you tighten the front globe.  Needs adjusting in the picture.

I plan on doing that as the stock trigger is pretty damn gritty and just plain bad.

ETA
Just called Daisy customer service and ordered the parts.
