Got this interesting email this morning.  Apparently Bud's is having PTR build/rebuild Century's remaining stock of C93 sporters.  Decent price at $550 as well.

Attachment Attached File

C93 Sporter @ Bud's

Backed by PTR's lifetime warranty.  Wonder if PTR is using this as a learning experience to get into the 5.56mm roller locked clone game?

I reserved one, we'll see how it compares to my original C93.  Man, two years ago I said NO MORE ROLLER-LOCKED GUNS, here I am buying more C93s and wanting a 9mm clone.

This has me super excited that we'll see 5.56 offerings from PTR next year.

The receivers are all stamped Century Arms C93 Sporter, but PTR-91 is more involved with this project than Century Arms.  PTR-91 is manufacturing the barrels and other parts for these surplus kits.  PTR will also powder coat, assemble, and warrant these C93s.  That's right this gun is covered by PTR-91s limited lifetime warranty!

That's exciting. I'm going to be giving PTR so much of my money now. I was really impressed with the PTR 9CT and am going to grab a PTR32 and PTR91 because of it. Eagerly hoping they release a MP5K clone and even a MP5SD host gun soon.

May pass on this CP93 sporter even though it sounds like a terrific deal that I'll regret passing. Just want one with a welded rail and a shorter barrel. And I don't know if this one is full auto ready for a sear.

Judging from their previous rifles I would say no. Odds are they will be nitrided like their 9C/T (aka MP5) barrels.

Do they charge you right away, or is it just to hold your spot?

Are the barrels covered under warranty?
If so, does that include full auto?

Again, judging from their previous firearms, the warranty does not cover the barrel but only internal components they make.

Edit: I am referring to the limited lifetime warranty. I'm sure if the barrel was defective it would be covered under normal warranty.

Anybody have a source for mags below $80 each? Factory mags that is.
You can put one on layaway at Buds for 20% down and 90 days to pay.

They have become a bit of a pricy object.

That said, the Promag HK93 mag is actually pretty good for $12 or whatever it is now.  Perhaps the only decent thing they make.  If you look at HKparts.net at their HK93 mags, they are actually the unnamed US made ones for $25.  Good reviews.

The MKE translucent polymer were available for around $35 but they are pretty tight in my C93’s mag well and required a lot of fitting.

They charged me. $571.47 shipped.

Hopefully, they'll ship with a paddle magazine release. If not, I'll have one added.

I took the bait. I don’t have any HK/Clone rifles, I’ve always wanted one but for some reason never jumped. If nothing else this will be nice for the non-AR collection. If I hate it some reason I’m sure I can sell it for what I have in it.

I probably sold more of these than their email blast did. Maybe Bud’s should me up with an extra one for free.

PTR has been doing paddles releases on their rifles for the last two or so years, so it will be interesting to see if these will as well.  My last C93 got a new German mag catch because the kit’s original was pretty worn out.
Link Posted: 7/27/2018 7:23:44 PM EDT
[#18]
Since these are below the Century C308 price point (which PTR also has a hand in making) which does not have a paddle release, I'm assuming these C93 rifles will not have one either.

But I would be more than happy to be wrong on this.

I'm in for one. Couldn't resist. Was willing to pay more for a used C93 as I had been looking for one. Figured this will do. Just need a good source for cheap quality mags.

I really like the platform, especially at the price point. However I do not like the factory magazine prices, especially for anything besides the 40 rounders.
I am aware of the aftermarket options but they just don't have the same quality the factory ones do. I'll pass on these ones, just like I have been passing on them for the past few years since Century started to pump them out. Maybe one day I'll stumble into a deal on a pile of factory magazines and I'll have to change my stance.

Remaining inventory, I wonder if it was all the rejects sent back to Century and  they grabbed them up and are reworking them.

I know.. it's almost as heavy as the 91 but damn if I still don't want one.

The thing is I know that I would buy it, be super happy for a while and then never shoot it.

Does anyone know if PTR will be producing a HK33 5.56 rifle in 2019 or is just rumor/wishful thinking?

The fact that PTR worked these Bud's rifles would make me think they would.  It would be good training/working out the bugs session before ramping up pure PTR 5.56 rifles.

My $0.02 for what it's worth.

Is this a really good price on these?  Some googling reveals that the Century built CA93s were on sale for $499 years ago.  These would be better overall quality?

Yes and yes.

I have seen them sell for $650 and up. The PTR rebuilds will be much better and for cheaper.

What he said.
Even if they were complete parts kits, with no receiver, they'd be worth $550.
PTR wouldn't put their name on them if they sucked.

Yep, not passing this one up.

In the description it says, "PTR will also powder coat, assemble, and warrant these C93s.  That's right this gun is covered by PTR-91s limited lifetime warranty!"

That sealed the deal for me.

They said they would have more info during business hours on twist rate etc but confirmed they are making them, they are mostly HK parts from surplus and they are doing around 800.

No, not yet but they had me send an email with questions and said someone would get back to me next week.

I asked about barrel profile, barrel coating and twist, paddle mag release and FA BCG. I'll post what I find out.
