I bought my kid a new .22 for Christmas. This thing is awesome. Fluted, threaded, cerakote barrel, oversize bolt handle, accutrigger. I may be shooting this more than him. https://imgur.com/gallery/rXVIkc8

My Dad also bought his dream 22 so to speak then gave it to me for Christmas many years ago. Your son will cherish it more knowing how much you like it but still gifted it to him.

My hat is off to you for doing this for your son.  My dad got me a single shot .22LR Remington 514 when I was about 10-11 years old.  I still have it along with fond memories of learning to shoot from him and spending time together.  BTW, I am 70 years old.  I have about three dozen firearms, now, but none is as special as that.

Here is your photo hot-linked so everyone can see it better:

My grandma gave me a 10-22 when I was 8. I gave that same rifle to my kid (different, older kid) about 25 years later. He still has it. Guns are timeless presents that last a lifetime.

That looks like it, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere with the OD stock and FDE cerakote online. I dont know if it was a random bir R run? Seems unlikely, it's a farm store. Either way it's a damn cool find. I'm impressed with myself ??

I'm big on guns for gifts. She will have that m&p her whole life. What could be better?

Don't skip teaching the use of fixed sights.

Good advice.  I’ve got a CZ scout for that but she loves using the dot too!

He's 15 and the best, untrained iron shot I've ever seen. I offer things like trigger pull, breathing etc, but it's kind of hard to correct someone that never misses. Maybe now I can have an excuse to stretch things out to 100 and have a chance to offer advice. Out to 50 I've got nothing. I can't expect him to change things when he's dead on. The kid's a freak

I’ve got a niece who was like that.  She has drawn a crowd at the range shooting her little pink stocked Marlin 60.

Very nice, OP! Load up on a couple of extra magazines for that thing, as that seems to be the one common weak spot for those Savages.

Try shooting it suppressed and you’ll love it even more.

I have the same gun for a suppressor host. Love it suppressed.

My dad bought me a used Remington 514 for my first gun when I was the same age.  I still own it as well and it's one of my most treasured possessions.
