They're nice guns, I picked one up eairer this year, from PSA for 1200 bucks out the door, with a cool / silly camo patter stock.
I never liked the looks of the full size M1a - reminded me of a Kentucky long rifle. But the SOCOM is a nice handy package.
I've shot it twice - no jams or firing issues. It was shooting rather high at 50 yards, which I think is common for this rifle and especially the SOCOM due to the height of the night sight front, so I put a Sig Romeo 5 I had lying around on it, and it's a nice set up.
Some people say the muzzle brake is loud and blasty, but I don't find it bad to shoot.
New ones are a hassle to remove the operating handle (may not be the proper name for it) from the bolt - it's a tight fit. There are some good You Tube videos on how to put a screwdriver behind the handle and put pressure on it, then tap the handle with a mallet and it'll pop loose of the bolt.
Other thing I found with mine was that it the gas plug nut was on super tight. I had to buy the backup wrench used to secure the mounting bracket, then blast some rounds out at the range and heat things up, before I could get the plug off, even using a socket. Combination of super torqued and no oil to speak of in the threads.
Best mags I've found are the stainless Check Mate ones, not cheap at 25-30 bucks each, but will last forever.
I think you'll like it, and yours is nice looking with the wood stock.
