Found a Savage 330 12 gauge locally for a great price, they have mechanical triggers and extractors instead of ejectors. Tempting for an SBS project. But I’d really prefer something that I can source an extra stock for easily as I’d like to cut the barrels to around 10” and be able to swap from a birds head grip to a shorty stock.

Any of the current imports suitable for such a project? Not opposed to a 20 gauge as I know the 20 ga Condor is significantly lighter than the 12 ga, which would make a handier hand cannon. But 12 ga versatility is very nice.

Stoeger is pretty decent for the price.

Chiappa/Charles Daly is something you want to look at in person before buying one and especially before filing a F1.

CZ is better for the price.

Honestly they're all pretty similar in cost until you get past CZ quality. For the money I'd just go with CZ these days. $600-700.

I did a Stoeger Condor.  Found it on sale for $350.  Good enough.
