That is super cool. Well-done, and I hope it's a great shooter.

Is the carry handle easily-removable?

Thank you. Yes its quick detach. There is a spring loaded plunger on the rear and dovetail in the front. A little spring loaded latch keeps it from sliding back and off

@katzma  You're doing an outstanding job.  Wishing you total success.

Here's a few pics of AR70s that I've run across over the decades.

Finally found some time to blast and blue the selectors and do some color fill. Not the best but I'm happy with it.  Used testors enamel model paint.

Found another hard to find piece for my AR70/90. Trijicon TA14 ACOG mount. Trijicon discontinued them years ago and said they won't make any more. Been looking for one for a little over a year and found it recently on gunbroker.  Not the most secure mount and the ACOG sits a little too far forward.

Ordered from Troy ess.

Now to find someone to do the build for me.  I am not equipped or experienced to do it.

As an aside, my dang in the white receiver got rusted a bit.    My fault, OK humidity and I didn't oil it.

Hey guys, how does one contact Troy for a receiver shell? Also looking for a smith if anyone knows someone who'd work on a crazy thing like this, I'm sadly not up to it.

Settled on a scope for the AR70/90. Hensoldt Fero Z24. Mounted in a ARMS #19A STANAG mount. On top of the B&T rail. Eye relief is better than the ACOG though I wish the stock was 1-2" shorter. I'll probably end up making a shorter stock. What do you think?

Troy is no longer making receivers due to concerns over ATF rulings. That may change, but it is what it is now.

This guy sells flats. I have one and it will take a lot of work to make a receiver, but it is an option that is out there. Some people were working on dies for pressing flats. I am waiting on my house to close so I can get an address to ship my barrel. Then I can start the build.AR70/90 Flats

Riser as in the ARMS #19A? Or the B&T?  The B&T is the picatinny mount that fits the AR70/90. The ARMS #19A is designed to mount STANAG scopes, so the scope is bolted directly to the mount which is mounted to the B&T rail. I cannot find a direct STANAG to AR70/90 rail.

Ah.  The optic is mounted to the STANAG mount of the ARMS 19A, which also has Picatinny rails that are unused.  From the pics, it appears the optic is mounted to the Picatinny rails of the ARMS 19A.

Had to move the rear sight back roughly 1/16" because the B&T picatinny rail wouldn't fit.   Then cleaned up the welds, sand blasted and cold blued.

Next I'll finish neutering the FCG and refinish the lower.

Interesting what happened here that required moving the rear sight back. Were Troy's blueprints off?

No. The rear sight isn't located on the 80%, I just put it in the wrong spot after looking at pictures.

Looks like Troy has changed his mind on discontinuing receivers in light of the ATF rulings under comment. He has some receivers up on gunbroker, unless they are old stock. He also has barrels on gunbroker, but odds are you can get a better price contacting him directly.

Figured since me and the kids are stuck at home with the rona, I'd make my AR stock adapter. Took about 30 mins to make. Just used some 1/8 strap, cut out the shape, plug welded the tabs and cold blued it. Welded on a castle nut so the AR buffer tube will screw on then tighten with a 2nd castle nut. Works good and doesn't look too terrible. Using a Shockwave 2.0 brace for now. Waiting on my 12" barrel to arrive. It will eventually get SBRd. What do you think.

After a shipping snafu finally got my 12" barrel. I had it made with the last 1.5" threaded 1/2x28, the gas port is just located and not drilled so I can work up the gas port size. I'll use the C for the normal setting and the O as the suppressed setting.

I cut the gas tube down to 8.125"

And cut and welded the piston to 9.56" (this is a test piston. I'll do a better one monday). I also cut the spring down to 55 coils.

For the gas block retainer I used a knurled barrel nut and notched it for the latch. I also used a jamb nut to tighten against the muzzle brake.

They look similar but are not interchangeable.  I think the AR70 barrel is thinner and the mount is smaller.

If you kept it as a pistol, something like the Tommybuilt G36 brace would look awesome on it, if it was possible to fashion an adapter.

Some braces and adaptions are more than the tax stamp.

Enjoy it as an SBR - Its a work of art.

Headspace is generally set by the barrel. It's installed like a AR or uzi barrel. Thou I have heard some people that have had to take some off the face of the trunion.

Well I get bored easily lol. But I've been wanting a Robinson M96 since the early 2000s. Their prices keep going up so I had to thin the herd to get one. Found a unfired 20" rifle with new 16" barrel/piston etc and picatinny rail with sight so I jumped on it.
