I went to a off the beaten path gun shop today and found a Beretta over under silver pidgeon for sale. The underside of the action is marked S687 EELL. Is there a difference between the S687 and the “regular” 687?

Is this thing worth $5k?

My answer would be that for $2,000 or so, you could buy a Beretta 686 or Browning CXS that would do anything you could ever possibly consider doing with an over/under and be just as well served. On that EELL you'd be paying a lot of money for knots in the wood and scratches on the receiver. The gun underneath would be no different than the more affordable gun.

Are you actually thinking about spending $5K on a gun and you don't know what it is?

EELL is a fancy grade 687.  I think they run $7500 new. Mechanically the same, but upgraded wood, upgraded metal work.  Nice guns.

All correct.

I had one years ago.  It was a beautiful gun.
