Get something like this and a 12v battery with solar charger. Doesn't have to be a battery powered light, just a 12v requirement to hook to a battery.

Hmmm - that's pretty neat. Looks like they make similar ones in both 940nm and 850nm.

Read in another thread that Bosch makes a great ir light that be hooked to batteries, supposedly the light and be aimed and whatnot, $$$ though.
