We have always referred the $200 payments we make to the ATF for eForm 1 as a "Tax Stamp", right?

Are these payments really a "tax" that can be deducted when we file our income taxes?

I read that they are somewhere on the internet and wrote them off one year, but then I forgot the next time I bought a couple cans!

My CPA hadn't done it before but I guess he found a place for it in the forms and didn't seem to think that it would be an issue, and he is definitely on the overly cautious side.

I'm no tax expert but I always thought of it as an excise tax, which I dont think can be deducted on a Schedule A.  Would be interesting where your tax guy found to list it though,

They are only deductible if they are a business expense, otherwise they're not deductible.  I'm not a CPA but I have stayed at a Marriott.
