it’s similar to h335, win748 etc
I dont have my load data with me but it’s good affordable bulk powder I’ve used it for many years |

Have used, 2230, 2230-BR (older powder) and 2230-C (surplus powder and on my last jug of this).
All have a just a slightly different burn rate, but if you would the loads up with the 2230 version you have, will really like the powder. Also note from the above, when AA releases a power with just a hint of different burn rate, they may still label it 2230, but will given a additional notation as well. The 2230BR burns just a hint slower than the standard 2230, and the 2230-C burns just a hint slower than that the 2230BR. The reason for this, is they get large amount of surplus powder from time to time and if its not dead on for 2230, then it labeled slightly different instead. So with the the 2230-C with the slowest of the 2230 powders (just a hint faster than 2460), turned to to be just the ticket for M193 Nato loads. As for the 2230 canister power, will always be same-same from any lot you get. |

Thanks. I am hearing from another post that folks seem to like between 24 and 25 gr. of 2230 with a 55gr. bullet.

I used to load it 10 or so years ago when it was about $5 less than other powders. It works fine.
Then I discovered Tac and CFE-223. |

I use it with heavier bullets too. It has produced some if my best groups and i use it for a couple of goto loads when i dont have time to work up anything new

I haven't leaned on it, but it seemed even softer than H4198. Too soft for me.

Looked at my loading data and my worked up to standard load was;
LC case, 25.5 grs AA2230, Win SR primer, Hornady 55 gr FMJBT seated to mid cannelure and a light crimp with Lee FCD. |

Thanks for the info guys. I will probably start at 24gr. and work up from there in 1/2 grain increments.

There are better powders out there, but I've been using 2230 for years and
am happy with it's results. |

Yea, I think I am going to try TAC for the 77 grainers, but H335 has worked well for my 55gr. plinking ammo for years. I expect 2230 to be about the same.

I got away from 2230 in the .223, but I used it in a bolt action Ruger for about twenty years with 55 grain bullets. Listed charges are a little lighter now than when I used it, but like other Accurate powders, it may have been produced by a number of different manufacturers over the years. I never used 2230 in an AR, but it would certainly be worth trying.
