Specifically with H-335? I know, who does that...me. I just don't like compressed loads and want to know if anyone has used this same data I found, showing 31 to max 34.4 for H-335, compressed load.

CFE BLK works quite well for this cartridge. It's what I'm using with that Gold Dot.

Same here. CFE Black with the Speer in 7.62x39 for CMMG Mk47 Mutant.

I was just using what I have on hand - my AA1680, (best damn powder for 7.62x39mm for me in years), suddenly became somewhat harder to find for me locally. Thank you for the replies, and I'll check the local Stop and Rob for CFE Black next payday.

AA-2200
H4198
H322
LT-30
LT-32

All work well in this caliber.

My favorite pig load - 123 gr Gold Dot, CCI large rifle primer, 28.8 gr CFE-BLK - smooth shooting / very accurate.

The AR with the Green Mountain barrel easily gives me 3/4" groups at 100 yds with this load.
The Stoner AR gives me 1 1/4" groups all day long with it although I think it might get better if I play with seating depth.

Sweet, nice to know. Now once I replace my decapping die I'll be back at it.

What kind of expansion are you seeing with the Gold Dots? I have only ever used Hornaday soft points and have had no opportunity to use them for hunting yet.

BTW, the firearm these are used in right now is my BREN 2 MS pistol with 11 inch barrel. Is much fun to shoot.

Only one I ever caught. Nothing scientific. Just wanted to see if it'd expand. Did so beautifully as Gold Dots generally do.

10.5" PSA AR. Load was 29.0 CFE BLK. Muzzle velocity was around 2250 fps.

And that, sir, was exactly what I was hoping for, especially from a barrel like mine, thank you! Beautiful expansion.

Are these true .311 AK diameter projectiles?

Hoping for 308, as the 300blk version of Gold Dots are 150gr 123gr would give a lot more velocity potential, never understood why they made it so heavy.

.310 diameter.

Yes.  Hers a sample of my results.  I’ve found CFE BLK provides the best accuracy near or at max charges.

Just size these 123 gr projectiles down to 30 cal. for 300 BLK.

That’s what I do.

As most of my shots are neck shots, I haven't been able to get a bullet to check expansion, but the exit hole is very large and the hogs dropped like a rock - no quiver, etc.

Midway just got some more of these in stock - ordered me a few hundred more.

So, a little more info. First, this was a representative photo of a target with the Speer 123gr Gold Dot over H-335. The slow burning powder, less than max load in the short barrel even gave me my first stove pipe. All roudns fired seated, magazine rest, at approximately 50 yards.

Firearm involved;

So I tried two more powders in the list of data I found online, Reloder 7 and of course, Accurate Arms #1680, the old standby for 7.62x39mm!
First, the Reloder 7 - did I mention how much I like Reloder 7 in 223? I do...

But here, it gave the same results, with a lower loading. So naturally I loaded the AA1680 to nealy max, because I'm dumb that way, and a little bit of difference showed up;

Now that's more like it. The taped over to the right is the first five, then adjusted POA. Of course, with an 11 inch barrel I will never have a target firearm, of course, but perhaps that might be good for pig and coyote, eh?

And, I stopped by my local store, and guess what I found?

Dusty, just like the 4 pounds behind it. I guess nobody local uses it...what a pity...

Now I just need a starting load for my cast bullets with this stuff.

And I finally got out with the last 10 bullets loaded with 28 grains of CFE BLK. I need more.

First group looked good...minus one called flyer, dammit.

Second group spread out some. Load thumps.

Attachment Attached File

Even better when you look at the 10 round group on the back of the target. Minus that damn flyer.

I guess for a non rested 50 yard 11 inch barrel that's not TOO bad...going to have to order some more bullets and see what velocity it gives me out of this short tube.

Thank you - if I can get some more of these bullets on payday, I will do some chrono testing, as well as adjust that SIG MSR green dot...
