I picked mine up last night. I don't have photos at the moment but i can post some later (if someone can tell me how to post photos).
I didn't do a full disassembly yet but it appears to only be missing the safety. Very dirty and very dry but I got it to cycle and dry fire without much effort. I had assumed I would end up with something where I would want to sandblast and refinish all the metal but the original finish seems to be in pretty good shape. If it stays that way after cleaning I will likely leave it alone. The wood is dirty but free of any major issues. I'll clean that up with Minwax antique furniture refinisher and give it some tung oil and call it a day. Very weak trigger spring like Tango had mentioned. I'll likely replace that as well. At casual glance, I think I did pretty good but we'll see what I find when I take it apart fully. |

Someone needs to call Mossberg with a serial number and see where they were sold

Picked mine up today. The thing is bone dry. Has been sitting a long time. Action was locked up, safety still worked. The take down button was pushed in and stuck. Tried to mortar it nothing. Pulled the trigger pack and still nothing. Sandy dry inside. Reset the trigger and held down on the slide release button and slapped the fore grip and she broke open. Springs are shot. Hammer seems really weak. Everything seems to work just dry and worn out springs. Mines complete except for the butt pad. I tore it down and threw it in the dishwasher Everything was finger tight. Fore grip locking nut unscrewed by hand, mag tube unscrewed and spring was so worn the mag tube follower wouldnt pop out. I had to keep fiddling with it and it shot out. https://i.imgur.com/bvLUzXs.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/EAOKlLX.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/PgHg1yJ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/FhjDVtj.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QaOwRrv.jpg https://i.imgur.com/iJAdiK8.jpg Safety is partially present and works. There was another website selling complete guns for $225 or $249 plus shipping. I forget how much they were but they were sold out. Also said Malaysian Surplus guns.

Looks like the shotguns i trained the guys in the Philippines with.
They definitely used them on terrorists. |

Photos of mine. When I pull the trigger group I'll add that photo as well. Still haven't messed with it much.

For anyone wondering, the red paint wipes right off with acetone and a rag.

Nice guns there. That number 28 looks worse than mine. My red paint came off with hot water and a M16 cleaning brush.
Ive cleaned the receiver inside and out three times by hand and once in the dishwasher. I pulled the ejecter and remains of the safety today. Literally scraping grime out of nooks and crannies. I had a new main spring arrive today and a new mag spring. Will get this thing back together. My stock lost all the finish when I washed it in the dishwasher. Took it right down to bare wood. Im going to tung oil it I think. I have to fit the new butt pad first. |

Can you expand on this? Current water cooler wisdom says there's never a reason to go with a shotgun over a carbine, especially for the two way firing range. I am assuming they didn't just use them for breaching doors. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

You'd be far better served w/ a Chinese H&R Remington 870 copy - imported by Remington's subsidiary: https://www.centerfiresystems.com/p-18045-hr-72260-np12s8-pump-12ga-28-ctmd-syn.aspx Or a Maverick 88, made by Mossberg, basically a 500 w/ a cross-bolt safety. View Quote Debating one of these poor things even tho I don't have a use for it Maybe buy it, clean it up, and sit on it. Military shotguns seem to be more collectible these days. EDIT: Gave in and bought one. For just $149.99 you too can give one of these old veterans a home... |

Just a heads up I found the Mossberg buttpad and spacer at midwest gun works. Around $10 for the pad. Its the cheapest I found for the correct part. They beat all the usual places unless you have a dealer account etc.

For those of you who have received your shotguns, how are the bores? I've got two on the way and am hoping to get a decent piece between the two of them.

Finished mine for now. The only screw in the gun that was hard to get out was the safety. The finish came off the stock and I had to coat it in tung oil. https://i.imgur.com/d8MDpp1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/X5vl9JF.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zu5fRCN.jpg View Quote |

I picked mine up a few hours ago. Not bad, actually better than I was expecting. Safety, buttpad, sling swivels all present. I'll get some pics up today when I get it home.
ETA Attached File Attached File After looking it over a little more carefully I am pretty pleased. All the wood is good and everything is there. It does have pretty significant rusting on the left side of the barrel and mag tube, I’ll see what it looks like after some cleanup. Action all moves and the trigger dry fires. I think I could actually take it out and shoot it just like I got it, but I want a little more inspection. What’s the consensus on the tape on the buttstock? Take it off? Leave it? I’m leaning towards just leaving it so it stays in current condition, just cleaned and oiled. |

I purchased one of these thanks to this thread . Picked it up Tuesday upon close inspection at home the muzzle was dinged/ bent in and there is pitting on the barrel under hand guard that is very deep almost all the way through into the bore . Will try to post pics later . I’m really bummed

Picked my two up today. One is as expected and everything works, no missing parts. Pretty significant rust on the barrel exterior which I'll work on soon. The second is a very nice shotgun- looks more stored than drug around the jungle. Bore is pristine, no rust and no dings in the wood. I'm really (!) happy with the second one.

Well, it is far nicer than I expected.
Almost zero rust and 100% complete. Nothing broken. Bone dry and gunked up and hard to work. Lots of dried gook to clean out. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |
