Hi,
I am eyeing a couple in stock DM kits. The select titanium kit for use on a 308 rifle and the premium tuned kit for use on pistols 9-45. Is there anyone out there with first hand experience? How does it sound? How is fit? Would you build it again? Did you order anything additional or only the kit as is? First hand experience please. Not interested in hearing about your brothers friends stuff. Thanks |
|
My experience so far with DM has been waiting for my kit to ship since the 10th.

I did one of the tuned kits.
I normally make my own cans with 416, gr 5 ti bar and gr 9 tube, and 17-4 but I have no issues with DM other than the wait. Beautiful baffles and as always perfect machining. I knew they were GTG after buying some ti tubes from them in the past. I'm half deaf but there is no difference between it and my commercial cans. I'd post pics but my membership lapsed and it would cut into my tooling and ramen fund |

As it came, specs matched common advice of this and other suppressor forums, radials. Only caveat is I machined my own 5/8 and 1/2 fixed thread adapters that are more shallow than the stock liberty ones.

Can anyone explain the difference between his premium and select series kits? I see the main difference might be that the the select tube ID isn't "bored" but what exactly does that mean? I mean I know what it means to bore a tube, but with respect to assembling it will an un-bored tube still need to be bored by the end user? Or will it be fine? I don't have any way to bore a tube so I'm wondering if that means it's better to buy a premium kit. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing a premium 22lr option.

The ID will be certified +/- .003 of listed ID. |

Quoted: From DM's select titanium tube description: This means there is a chance your spacers/cups won't fit properly without some material removal on your end. The premium tubes should be what the ID says they are without variance. View Quote |

I own the select 22 kit. It is fine. A spacer or cup could have a tight fit but no issues here.

I have 2 of the ASR kits and one of the 22lr kits around here. I cannot speak to the 22LR kit as its in a box of parts somewhere as a kit but the ASR (8,10") kits I have are well made and function as they should. I did turn the 10" into a direct thread can as I got tired of buying and timing those damn dead air brakes. I also have a Dead Air Sandman L for comparison. The L is heavier than the 10" so the 10" can has left POI shift. The factory unit is quieter which is expected but for the 10 month different in stamps I can stand a few DB's more.

|
If you buy a select kit, you won't have to do any work other than drilling, like you would with a premium kit. The cones are just smaller in the select versus premium. 1.355" versus 1.372" on the 1.5" O.D. cans.

Also, you're not clipping or DM already did it, for either kit? The cones are just smaller in the select versus premium. 1.355" versus 1.372" on the 1.5" O.D. cans. So the select kit has thicker walls and is, therefore, heavier? View Quote |

I have 2 rimfire, one 30 cap, and one 9mm, form 1 cans.
All built off DM "kits". I'm a fan. I clipped my baffles, drilled them, and cut spacers on my lathe and mill. They all sound good. I have other cans with which to compare them. They all compare favorably. |

Select kits do have a smaller I.D. and are not bored straight like the premium kits are. Weight wise...no idea. Would the smaller O.D. spacers and smaller cones offset the difference? |

I have the 22 titanium kit. It is a good performer and I am happy with it. I can't tell any difference from similarly sized commercial cans.
Not like 22 is hard to suppress, though. |

I got a select titanium kit when it was the only thing in stock months ago, it's arriving tomorrow. I've never built one before so we'll see how it goes.

From the DM web site:
"Shipping Times All new orders being placed on the website will be processed within 12 business days. With the ever increasing volume in orders we are working hard to get caught up and get these delivery times shorten to 5 days. For custom build orders you will be given a estimate for delivery." I waited 15 days before emailing and got a reply the next day. |

Does DM list their cups anywhere on their site, or are they only available in kits? I must be missing something...

I ordered in stock items back on 1/31 and not a peep sense. I'll give them another week and then cancel my order.

I ordered Jan 27th, and no communication. I've emailed two or three different emails and left voicemails. Anyone have any other contact info or ways to get a hold of them? I'm planning on canceling soon.
|

I’ve waited 3 or 4 months for items from DM. Usually not the case for in-stock items but they will hold the whole order up to fulfill lagging items.

@RogueHKMP5 still with them?
The dmsolventtraps.com domain is parked by godaddy, not sure if that incorporates their email server or not. |

I had an order for 3 "in-stock" kits since 01/24, yesterday I did a dispute with my credit card company.
People have said they had long waits and that they still delivered, but I don't want to support such a poorly run company. Having over 1k tied up and Not getting any communication or updates is sketchy. Especially when they say they ship in 12 days or less. Someone on the form1 boards said he ordered spacers on February 7th and got them yesterday. |
|
I just disputed the transaction. Not that I think my time or money is worth more than anyone else's, but zero communication is unacceptable to me.
|
|
So when you say drilled and clipped what does clipped mean?
I'm unfamiliar with that term |

Plot Twist:
Chris contacted me and said that my order was ready to ship. I told him I would like to receive the product and to tell my credit card company that he will deliver the product and to accept the charge. I also told him that it would be a good idea to have a little more communication. Told him he doesn't need to answer every e-mail, but a simple post on here saying kits will be delivered 5 weeks from order date would go a long way. |

I got a tracking number and email from Chris today, parts enroute. Took about two months.

I ordered an “in stock” kit 2/13 and haven’t heard a peep about it since.

A while back I bought the ASR kit with his funky K'ish style dividers. I did not like them and didn't drill them out. I'm actually on the look out right now to buy new internals. I'm trying to decide between 60's or Radial's at the moment for 9mm.
