95% of all FN made FALs in the US are cast receiver guns. FN went to a casting because the service life was at least 50k rounds. Just In 50k rounds the FAL rifle would need many barrels(and Locking shoulders) and probably a hammer or 2, lots of springs and pins and for certain many gas system parts. Another factor for the US civilian shooter is the $25,000 in ammo min to get to the 50k rounds. So will a forged receiver get you to 80k or 100k rounds yea maybe but thats even more parts replacements and $15,000-$25,000 more min in ammo.
