Thinking about getting a pellet rifle for my 9yr old grandson for Christmas.

At that age I was introduced to NRA smallbore. What would have kept me shooting that kind of game would have been a target air rilfe, had they been common. The DaisyAvanti 853 and similar would be my recommendation.  Though, the Red Ryder kept me pretty busy shooting English Sparrows.
