It takes a lot of strength to charge an AUG compared to other weapons.

So much so that the 2 ladies here almost can not charge it.

I am going to buy the MA switchback if they ever get them back in supply.

It shouldn't be that difficult. Or maybe you should hit the gym, haha. I wonder if it needs lube or a good cleaning or something.

Mine has smoothed out nicely after several hundred rounds. Remember it’s intended to be charged palm up, seems to ease up some resistance.  Mine was tough out of the box, but it gets better.

Mine is easy even after recently having rotator cuff surgery. The charging handle on my G3 clone, on the other hand, takes some oomph to yank back.

I have 2 AUGs. The one with original trigger pack charges a little easier after several 100 rds. The other AUG charges very easy with a redesigned trigger pack I picked up a while back. Unfortunately they don't make the redesigned pack any more. The picture shows what it looks like.

OP, how many rounds through it?

I don't question anything without almost 500 downrange.

With that said I think I need to get shooting my AUGs as they're lacking there.

+100 on the MA charging handle. I think I got the medium length. I'll post a pic before supper.

I've noticed this too when shooting next to my brn180. I thought it was just me since I'm trying to do it left handed.

I have an A1 that I locked the bolt back and forgot about it for a bunch of years, 7 years if I recall correctly. I was moving and found it a couple years ago.

I know people will say, “hurt durr compression cycles wear out springs”, but I can affirmatively state from experience that that A1 had a typical stiff charging weight and after I left it locked back for years it is very noticeably lighter than any of my AUGs. It feels as if force requires was reduced by 50% at least.

And if you’re wondering, it works just fine.

The spring is stiff to start, but then settles in. All springs are like this, but I notice some manufacturers springs start out very stiff.

When a spring settles in, it should operate within tolerances needed to run the action.

My aug was hard to charge at first. After a few hundred charges, it's easy.

My AUG isn’t hard to charge. Guess I got lucky.
