Just saw this on sturm, holy shit.

This seems to suggest that a single vertical cut isn’t enough.

I’ve also seen a lot of parts kits, that do have vertical cuts, but usually it’s at least two, since a section of the receiver of physically missing.

I thought they changed to requiring torch-cut quite a while ago.

The saw cut receivers were only part of what got this guy in trouble..... the live MG's, grenades / launchers, and IED's had a bit to do with it as well

The wrong cuts on the receiver are one thing. The IEDs (if they are actual IEDs) are another ball of wax.

I wonder why the prosecution was OK with letting him go home if this was such egregious criminal activity.

Band saw cut receivers have been a no go for quite some time. There was a guy local to me that had 5 Bren kits from long ago that were the band saw cut.
He said he paid around $150 each for the kits back in the early '90s. He sold each of them for $1500 each. They had intact barrels and 3 or 4 mags each.

Single cuts have been against demil policy forever.  There are still plenty of old parts kits demilled under that standard, but it seems like there are … infinitely more.

Don’t make a business out of it and you’re probably fine.  Continually offering them…  Unless you bought a couple hundred from Numrich/Sarco/whoever AND have a dated receipt to prove it, you may have some problems.

While I'm in favor of people being able to transfer firearms to each other, I think my first reaction upon being offered an operational machine gun receiver, or readily restorable machine gun receiver would be to look around for the BATFE surveillance van taking pictures.
