I had some money left on a amazon gift card and this was one of the knives I found that was cheap enough to buy with what little I had left. Supposedly this style of knife was a 17th century frontier trade good. As far. As far as I can figure it's made of an inexpensive German stainless steel in Taiwan. Mine came with a better sheath I think the old ones came with.

I have a couple of those, I wish the handle was more grippy, but all in all I like it. I'm thinking about how to do that.

For a cheap $5 knive that I got just to get free shipping at midway, I have abused the hell out of this thing and it just keeps taking it. Because if it, Ive takes a closer look at cold steel

I bought a cold steel folding hunting knife in the 90s that was terrible. Wasn't sharp, seemed to be hard to sharpen, rusted sitting in a desk drawer inside.
But most of the other stuff I've bought was decent for the money. This is just a kind of mora-ish knife made out of cheap kitchen knife stainless steel. I read theories that is actually Chinese steel but I'm skeptical that CS would lie about the origin of the steel. It used to be described as "Krupp" steel but the more recent ads just say "German." The blade is marked 4116 Stainless Taiwan |

I have that same knife. I use it in the kitchen. Its not bad for a cheap knife.

The handle could probably be stippled if it's too slick.
