I picked up a very nice, but very rough Type 99 and now I need to find some ammo to play with. Who has some? Where do I look?

do you reload? I bought brass from graff and my friend helped me load it.

some hunting ammo is in stock in some places. not really cheap but here

I do reload but it has been a a while since I have. I would like to buy some loaded rounds just to get started.

Thanks for the response.

The rifle I have has been neglected and has some rust and is dirty as hell, but it is an early example with the dust cover, mono-pod, anti-air sights. It even has the original sling. I think it was a battle field pick up because it even still has the chrysanthemum.

It's not particularly hard to load for, save your brass.

In those loads, I'd go light. Even though the arisaka is one of the strongest of the WW2 .mil actions, the recoil isn't going to be fun and I don't know that I'd want to hotrod with full loads until I knew that it was okay with lighter ones.

Easy to modify .30-‘06 casings.  Very commonly done.

Kinda slim pickings out there right not.

Grafs does a run every now and again and Cabelas carries it, from time to time.

Grafs has been my source.

It’s definitely something you’d want to reload unless you’re not going to shoot it much.

This thread might help you out some:

When you shoot it, please come back and post a range report if you don't mind.  TIA!

I buy it from some random guy at the gun show.

Not any real significant quantities of commercially-loaded ammo in this caliber. It's more of a roll-your-own caliber now.

How do you verify yours is safe to shoot?
I got one a few years ago but the lack of available ammo and all the miss-information online has kept me from really looking into it. Never checked the head space, but the action feels as tight as my other milsurps.

Grafs has PCI in stock.  I've never used that brand though; only Hornady and my reloads.

That stuff is total crap.

Buy the Xcaliber listed above over this stuff, unless you want hangfires and squibs.

You might give Hornady a call and see who they sell to, or if you can buy direct from them.
