First, is it weird that I want a 5.7X28 bolt action?  I'm not sure exactly why, but I want one.  I know, I know it's kinda

pretty sure Savage makes one
like maybe from 10 yrs ago.

i recall reading a thread here about someone converting a CZ 527 (& they had feeding/ejection issues)

if you want single shot, there is always....
TC contender/encore

I really wanted a 5.7x28 bolt action.  If it was easy to get one, I would have it.  In the end it was hard impossible to find.  Then I started looked at 556 vs 5.7 and ballistically they are similar in the range I wanted to shoot.

Impossible to find coupled with ammo prices, I quit and went with 556.

Hope you have a better search experience.

Not something I just have to have, just kinda a want.  Yeah, .223 does everything, and more, but I have several of those, just wanting something different I suppose.  Not a Savage, or Ruger though.

I had one built a long time ago.  Remington 700 action (was a 17 Fireball originally), Shilen fluted barrel, Timney trigger, HS Precision stock, bushed bolt with M16 extractor.  I had a reamer and gauges made too.  My awesome neighbor gunsmith (RIP Lee) put it all together, and he did a beautiful job, but wasn't interested in making it feed, so it was a single shot.  Ultimately, I bought a new bolt, had it rechambered to .223, and sold all the 5.7 specific stuff to another sucker, I mean enthusiast who wanted to build his own.  The thing was a riot to shoot, accurate, no recoil, quiet through a can.  If FN had made one like they said they were going to I think people would have really liked the concept. Getting one to feed will probably  need an OEM level solution.

I think there's a good possibility of seeing one come to market with the reborn popularity of 5.7 chambered firearms.

I think it would be cool to see one in a lightweight .22lr-.17hmr sized rifle that could be suppressed with a stainless .22 can.

I'd probably buy one.

A Browning T-Bolt in 5.7x28 would be cool.

The old Remington 5mm bolt guns were often converted to 9mm or one of the small centerfires...

Contender of course.

Maybe one of the 1885 or clones thereof?

Been wanting one for years.  It would take the place of my .22 Hornet but in a rifle that didn't weigh 10 lbs.

It would be excellent for coyote-sized critters with a Varmiter bullet.

The T-bolt would be cool!  I currently use my PS90 for small critters that like to turn my trash can over, or dig up my yard.

Glad to know I am not the only one who thinks this would be interesting.

I would love to have one. Especially a small, compact repeater. Preferably with a folding stock.

What we really need is for B&T to make a USW chassis for the Five Seven.  That would be slick.

I’ve always wondered why this doesn’t exist yet.  Seems like a home run for the first to market.  I’d love a Ruger American in 5.7x28!!

I’ve always thought that a 5.7 based wildcat with the shoulder slightly narrower in diameter to introduce some body taper would be awesome in a fast twist bolt or single-shot as a silencer host.

You could go with a 22 spitfire chambering. It's basically a 1960's era 5.7x28 made from necking down 30 carbine. I've always wanted to build an m1 carbine in that caliber, I bet it would be a sweet shooter.

5.7 Whisper shooting 75-80 grn subsonics would be kinda fun in a straight pull bolt action that was something similar to Biathalon style 22lr. short throw straight pull.

That's really interesting, and quite timely, as I was just talking to my dad a couple days ago about how cool it would be to have an M1 Carbine in 5.7.

I have been expecting ruger to drop one in their American line with all their other 5.7 offerings.

I thought I recall a couple guys using Armscor .22 bolt guns as a base.

Correction, they were using the Rock Island BA22 TCM bolt guns....still can be found on GB

Can I get your newsletter? I've been looking into building something like this. Is 5.7 whisper really a round/load?

If you're starting w/ an Armscor .22 TCM action, just run .22 TCM, slightly more powder capacity IIRC, and no coating to damage.
