It Might be cheaper to buy the colt m203 for 2100, keep the barrel, and sell the colt receiver for like 1700.

Buy a 40mm, and sleeve it to 37mm. It's not hard to do... If you can't yourself, a gunsmith or machinist could do it for you. Don't have the receiver and barrel in the same location until it's sleeved. GROG

Where can I find a 37mm sleeve?

They can be made by any machinist. All you need is a piece of either steel or aluminum pipe (metals depot) with an ID of between 1.45" (37mm) to 1.50" (38mm) and an OD that will be around 1.600(+/- .002)" (measure your rifling as new barrels have crisper rifling... Get the barrel hot (don't melt the handguard) and freeze the sleeve, drive the sleeve into the barrel and let them both return to room temp. GROG

You and a million other people are looking for one, but no sources as of right now.

I specifically asked LMT customer service if they offered 37mm barrels for sale and the sales rep told me "that is above my pay grade, sorry"  for whatever that means.

I was half tempted to tell them I would place a commercial purchase order for 50 of them (since they obviously can make them for the Brownells 37mm LMT M203's) since there obviously is a demand...

Do it.

I'm going the DD route and will be buying a 40mm barrel.

If the price is right it would be nice to have a 37mm as well.

Isn't Brownells coming out with a 37mm M203 soon? I wonder if the barrels are interchangeable with LMT 40mm M203 launchers. If so, and if Brownells will sell the 37mm barrel separate, then that might be the answer...

The Brownells 37mm M203 will not accept a standard 40mm barrel. That's how they are able to sell it as a non-regulated flare launcher. If it was a standard M203 receiver even with the 37mm barrel it would be a title 1 firearm and require shipping to a FFL.

I’m going the sleeve route. I found a local machinist that will make it for 100$. Anyone have a used 40mm barrel cheap?

They pop up often on Gunbroker.  I got a lightly used 9 inch 40mm barrel there for a bit over $200.

Where in TX did you find a machinist to do that for you? I’ve been holding out on buying a receiver due to the lack of 37mm barrels

I actually live in MS now. After I get the sleeve back I’ll inbox the contact info if it works great.

Has anyone checked dimensions of the Colt 37mm barrels that were sold via Arms Unlimited?
Link Posted: 1/4/2019 11:44:37 PM EDT
[#17]
Those should fit a regular 203. The rrason lmt made theirs proprietary is so that it is considered a signal launcher and not title 1 or title 2, so no ffl required.

The colts sold by AA were real m203 receivers and that is why they shipped to an ffl

More specifically the bore diameter of the Colt 37mm barrels.

I should really just make a small run of 37mm M203 barrels, but I don't know what the usual going rate is. Anyone able to point me to one available for sale?

I would be in for 2.

They’re around $400-500.

I just picked up one of the Arms Unlimited Colt 37mm 9” barrels off the EE. I’m looking to compare it with another Colt 37mm Barrel because I question the bore diameter..

$400-$500, you say?

Well, now, that certainly opens up some ideas... they're not technically difficult to make, and I've already got the tooling to finish up the bore nicely. What kind of chamber/bore dimensions do they seem to have? There's no "standard" 37mm, and many manufacturers over the years have made things quite proprietary.

@pyotr_k the bore should be the same as the “chamber” diameter from what I see.

A 40mm tube has an actual chamber and obviously rifling down the bore.

Hahah! I was watching it when Tanodized had it for sale and when I went back it was sold. So naturally I wasn’t going to let it pass the second time it was offered for sale!
