Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I use two calibers in Lehigh's....one is for my pocket .380 (Keltec P3AT) and my G42. The second is .357sig for hiking (my main carry G27 and a drop in barrel). Those are the Xtreme Penetrators.
When I first saw these I thought "gimmick" and likely not good for most 'human' self defense in most pistols, but I saw some gel tests that made me rethink. One was it's performance in .380. Was impressed with that. An old standard was just to run ball in those little guns to get more penetration. The Lehigh's do that, plus distrupt a decent channel. The other main use I could see was for dangerous game protecion, like bears with large calibers.
Saw one video where a fellow sabot loaded a heavy .44 in a muzzleloader. That thing not only zipped all the way through the test gel, but damn near quartered the block with that fluid jetting. Guess that if you miss a CNS part, or a major support in the skeleton on a shot, that jetting has got to so something to the soft tissues. Breaking a bear down structurally or a direct CNS hit is likely possible with those solid coppers, IMO. The jetting might give you the satisfaction of knowing he will eventually die after killing you.
