I'm talking to a guy about buying his Remington 1903, production date May 1942.

It appears to be in excellent condition, I don't have pics. My knowledge of these rifles is limited and my research time is limited.

He is asking $1300. Too much?

This would complete my service rifle collection 1903 to present (by model, not production date). Then I can start working on prior to 1903 to go with my 1884 Trapdoor Springfield.

If correct with all Rem parts in vg-ex condition yes esp if earlier serial # 3,000,000-3,050,000.

A bit high if just mixmaster,  Rem 1903's are actually pretty common.

I've been keeping track of these lately. There was an auction on GB (now closed) for a Rem 1903 with a winning bid of $900.00 plus shipping and all the other fees GB charges sellers/bidders. Rifle was in the 3328XXX serial range. Looked like all Remington parts except barrel, which was a High Standard 4 groove with a barrel date of 10-44. It also was late enough to have the stamped bottom metal and trigger guard.
