I am about to work up a load with these and have a couple of questions about them.

Background: I have worked up the 150 Interlocks (not BT, but SP) in the past. I used H4895 (the same I use for my 168 match) and got horrible results. I tried CFE223 and saw a great deal of improvement both in velocity and accuracy. However, since my barrel is 1/10, I thought I might see a little better performance out of the 165's so I picked some up. I have a ton of H4895, I don't really want to waste time bullets and powder working up 165 loads with a powder that hated the 150's.

Questions:

1. If the 150 Interlocks didn't like the H4895 in my rifle, then should I assume that the 165's will probably not like it either and just stick with the CFE223 or maybe Varget?

2. I don't have a lot of powder choices locally. Have any of you worked these up with Varget?

I'd try the H4895 with the 165s if it works well with 168s.

I'm assuming this is a .308 Win You really won't know until you try. I've used a lot of both of those bullets in several different 30 caliber rifles and never had any problems with either one.

Just wondering why you would think that a 1 in 10 should be better with 165s than 150s? That doesn't make much sense.

1/10 likes heavier bullets. Dont get me wrong, the 150's do well.

I gotcha. The thing is I never saw a 150 that disliked a 1 in 10 twist. In fact I never saw a 125 or 130gr that disliked a 1 in 10 twist.

I shot a ton of 165 BTSP and 168 NM BTHP from my match rifle (high power rifle silhouette). I never used either 4895 but was definitely in that burn rate range.

Good luck. Post results please.

You can look into 4064 also I have great luck with it in my ar 708 and 150s.

It's a little clunky but worth the extra effort.

A little off track, I use the 3040 (165gr SP flat base) in 30-06,, though good dose of IMR-4350 and 24" bolt gun

308 - 4064 / Varget may be your best bet, but H4895 should do the job also
