Just got a Gen4 G20, gathering up stuff to reload for 10mm.  I’m going with 180gr Copper Plated bullets, CCI LP primers.  I ONLY use CCi primers and Alliant powders, had good luck with them over the years.  With the above info, what’s your powder preference?  I’m thinking Power Pistol so I can load up 9mm without changing powder back to Bullseye, but I see guys love Blue Dot for max 10mm performance. I only reload target/range grade ammo, keep the SD/nightstand stuff for the Factory to make. Thanks arfcom!

I use a lot of HS6 with X-Treme 165 grains bullets for range practice in both a G20sf and G40 MOS.  In my hunting loads, Blue Dot is my 'go to' powder!

Power Pistol should work fine as long as you're not looking for max velocities. For that Blue Dot seems to be the go to powder.

I've also found Longshot does pretty well without the weirdness you sometimes get with Blue Dot when you're playing up around max. I'd have to check my notes, but IIRC I settled on Longshot over Blue Dot because I saw similar velocities with way better SD/ES numbers.

I use AA#7 or #9

all my powers are Accurate Arms except for shotshells which is Red Dot

Another vote for Longshot with any 180. That combination works very well outta my EAA Witness.

I've got a G20L and Power Pistol works very well in the longer, 6" barrel giving me a few hundred fps faster velocities with both 165 and 180grn bullets over my neighbor's stock G20.  Further, I've got no issues with max loads of it showing any pressure signs.  I've got a nuclear level load that just shows a bit of primer flattening but produces 165grn velocities approaching 1,600fps in my 6" G20L.  All my Power Pistol loads include LP Magnum (CCI 350) primers as not only do they produce higher velocities but lower SD and ES than regular LP primers.

ETA:  I've found that Blue Dot doesn't give me any more velocity out of my 6" barrel, however, it does produce a spectacular flame! I'm talking 'light up the night' size flame even at less than a full loads.  In addition, while the Power Pistol gives a roar the Blue Dot is more of a crack.  I also use Power Pistol in my 45 Super where a decent load produces 1,307fps pushing a 200grn bullet out of my 6" G21L.  All in all, I find that 40s&w, 10mm, and 45 Super do well with Power Pistol without abusing the brass.

I've tested only about 3K rounds 10mm in Gen 3 G20SF and Ruger 1911 10mm,

so my results aren't really that extensive.

With 180gr, I've found Blue Dot best for impressing folks with blast and flash at range.

Long Shot at near max with CCI 300 was best combination of accuracy and velocity.

Accurate #9 was best for accuracy but velocity fell off a bit.

In lighter bullets, 150gr-155gr, Accurate #9 was best accuracy/velocity combo,

with Ramshot Silhouette a close second.

CFE Pistol didn't do well with 180gr, planning to test with 150gr soon.

AA#7, blue dot, or longshot with 180’s.

AA#9 with 200’s

HS6 loads up sufficiently hot, but I have a canister of Longshot and 800-X both waiting for some load development. I’m not especially interested in bullets under 180 gr.

Be-86, bluedot and 800X are the powders I use the most in 10MM.

I use Longshot for my 180gr loads, and Power Pistol for my 165gr loads.

I also use Ramshot Silhouette for loading 135gr Nosler jhp bullets. I bought 1000 of those bullets a couple years ago from Shooter's Pro Shop when they were something like $9 per 100. They average 1480 fps out of my stock G20 barrel, and 1550 fps out of my 6" LW barrel. Those are a lot of fun on 2 liter bottles of water!

Anyone have any loads for 200gr with Longshot?

Power Pistol or Long shot are great choices for warmish loads.

I use Blue Dot. The only reason is I have some laying around.  It seems to be a good powder with plenty of ummph.   No chronograph but I have some SIG Elite 180 grain loads and it definitely has more recoil with my 180's than their 180's

The fireball is impressive.  It shoot it from my  Delta and keep it at 10.3 and get a slight bulge so I only use the brass once and it goes in the trash.

IIRC, 8.2 gr is max with a 200, but look it up on Hodgons site before trying it.

I’ve gone slightly over max with a 200 XTP and hardcast

My preferred 10mm powder is AA9. I can push 180gr hardcast to 1400fps from a 5" barrel with it, which is pretty damn stout.

AA7 for lighter bullet weights.

I used Power Pistol in my 10mm when I had it. Always did well for me.  Blue Dot worked well too, that and it produced a big flash. Shooting rounds with Blue Dot usually got noticed.

10mm is a great cartridge,  I miss mine.
