Well we stumbled across this one at the local pawn shop/gun store a few weeks ago.

Remarkably it seems to be in nearly unfired condition. Nearly zero wear on internal bits.

Price was in line with what SAR-48s sell for these days, on the high side of that anyway at $1999.

After a few weeks they marked it down to $1799.

Although I was lusting over it I had no intention of buying it and actually suggested to them that they should put it on
Gunbroker.

I was told I could have it for $1650 out the door.

Still was not going to buy it.

Got back home from the range and mentioned it to my wife and she
talked me into buying it. I love her !!

Ran back up there most riki tik and now it's mine.

Although there's no box or accessories I still can't believe this FAL survived from the late 80's
until now in this kind of condition.

Nice Rifle!  FALs are great guns!

If I had found it in that condition and price I'd have swiped it first, locked it in the gun safe, then some time later just play with it and dry-fire it in the living room before taking it to the range.  Then, if the wife asks if it's new, just say, "Nah, it's a safe queen...'til today."  

I have always loved the FAL, one sexy rifle.

I have owned, repaired, built FALs since the 90s. I have a PTR91 H&K clone. The FAL is way better.

Agreed. I have five FALs and a PTR. I love the PTR, but the FALs are far better rifles.

It's kinda funny that I had sold all my FALs and parts not long ago and now
I have another one.

So apparently I can't not have an FAL.

So the wife talked you into it . I bet that was a real heated dispute that took place.

I didn't want to spend the money.

Congrats. You bought the best value in FALs.

There are times when I think if I only had one rifle ... it would be a SAR-48.
