Just a lowly remington 700 BDL in 7mm magnum. Everything is factory and it has a leupold varix II. Maybe if I have money in the far future I can have action trued and rebarreled to a match barrel but now it could shoot 1 moa in the hand of better shooter (I cant...) the stock could use a little acraglas.... reach out and touch someone...

I have a Remington 700 LTR in 223 and another in 308 that I use for my long range work (600 yards and in).  I do quite a bit of prarie dog shooting in the summer, and these work great.  I also then use the 308 during deer season.

i'll put my Blaser r93 syn in 338 win mag, Leupold Vari X III up against most for long range.Although id like to upgrade the glass when i can afford to. The interchangeable mag bbls make this an awesome rifle. So far ive got the 7mm but id like to get .257wby also.
Any suggestions on scopes?

Check out the R93 Long Range Sporter Tactical in 338 lapua if u get the chance.

Depends in large part on your budget.

I've got a couple.

AR-10(T) in .308.  3/4 MOA or better (all day long) with Fed Gold Metal Match 168grn ammo.  Still trying to bring that down to 1/2 as I think I can.  I've got the Springfield Armory 4-14X56 with the .308/mil-dot reticule (sweeeeeeeet optics).  Can't wait to move into the new house so I have a place to set my reloader!

Remington 700 PSS in 300 Rem Ultra Mag.  I didn't like the stock so I put on a Choate Super Sniper (who names these things???).  I still need to hit the range again for a couple days to dial it in.  The optics are still unproven but the rifle will shoot ~3/4 MOA (5 shot groups) with me behind it and a cheap scope.

My Bull Barrel AR-15 is proven to (at least) 500 yards with 3" wide ground squirrels.  Not once or twice but many times.  It's much more difficult to determine the range than it is to make an almost perfect hit at that range.  I'd use a rangefinder, but if I take my eye off the scope, I'm afraid I wouldn't reacquire the target.  Shaw barrel, hooked buttstock, psg-1 style grip, Shephard 10X scope (unfortunately not calibrated for the .223 ),  free floated barrel, match ammo, etc..  But then again.... Ground squirrels are stupid and if I miss once, it's easy to walk the following round into place.  They just stand there and watch.

Oh boy, my favorite subject and I almost missed this post!

This is nice out to 1000 yards.

An M1A Supermatch (in .308 of course!) with a Leupold M1 LR 3.5-10 Illuminated scope in ARMS #22 rings on  an ARMS #18 Base. Heres what it can do @ 100 yards.

I get 73 MOA of vertical scope adjustment from this setup, that puts a 168 grain pill out to 1300 yards @ 2600 fps muzzle velocity. But we don't want to shoot .308 to 1300 yards, do we? That's where the State Arms Custom 50 BMG with a Leupold 8.5-25x50 LRT on a 1 degree tapered base comes in......

It has a 1 in 9 twist so it can stabilize 800-900 grain bullets with NO problem. If I ever find the time, I will start reloading for this muther, in the mean while I'm going to do my best to burn the barrel out with surplus ammo. Its gotta be good for 2000-2500 yards? I may never get to shoot it to its limit. It is fun to dream....

im gonna mount the Leupold on my Sako.
Id like to spend $700-$1000 on some new glass for the Blaser. Use will be for Whitetail, mule deer, elk , moose etc. An all around choice for big game and long range paper.
Thanx

For that kind of money, you can get a nice Leupold, Kahles, Schmidt & Bender, or even a used Nightforce.

Leupold has a no BS warranty, as you probably know.  Nightforce and Schmidt and Bender have superb optics.

I'd choose the Leupold for what you want to do.

Former USGI M1903A3 that my dad acquired.  He had it restocked & rebarreled.  He zeroed the scope in the early 70's and it always hits exactly where I want it to.  He passed away 10 years ago, so its sentimental value is immeasurable.

I also get tremendous pleasure from this:

Much of the brass that it has ejected over the years is now in a low earth orbit.

This is a fine scope for what your intended use.

These scopes are made by Burris.  I had the Burris version and it had very nice glass.  The only problem was the limited FOV at the higher magnification.

That's not a bad price if it's in good condition and it comes with mounts and rings.

Even if you're shooting long range, you don't need a high magnification scope.  You get a lot of movement, mirage, and your light transmission is compromised.

A 10x scope with good resolution will be fine out to 1000 yards.  To paraphrase my instructor at the last Gunsite PR1 class...instead of chasing bullet holes, quarter the target, dope it, dial it, and dump it.
