You gotta be kidding! 2 questions: #1 - What's w/all the "froo-froo" engraving? #2 - The Canadian parliment let's you own an SP-89? You've either got some big-n-heavy brass ones, or you've got the prime minister's in a vice! P.S. - You know I'm only poking fun (at your expense) I just couldn't leave it alone. ;) |

That AR10 is pretty sweet. Must've cost a pretty penny. AR10 have been on my list to buy for a year now, since we had a shoot at Burro Canyon, CA and I got to shoot one. |

Many of you have seen this one before. It is my most cherrished possesion!
This is a very accurate match rifle built at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in 1947 for my father. He was the captain of the APG rifle team, as well as the local division chief of TECOM. There are exactly three of these in the world. It started out as a pre-WWII training rifle, Springfield M2 - a .22 LR trainer based on the 1903 Springfields. It was fitted with an Eric Johnson barrel (not the guitar player, the best match barrel maker of the day). This particular one is the very last barrel made by Johnson before he died. It has a modified Tymney trigger, and the hand made stock, trigger guard, sling perch, and single shot floor plate were made by my dad in our basement. The gunsmithing on the action and re-barreling was done by a guy named Dave Perrin, who was the head gunsmith at APG's small arms custom shop. This is the same Dave Perrin that built the .22 Gustafson Carbine for my dad (G.A. Gustafson) shown on page 12 of "The Black Rifle". My dad had two of the rifles, and the third went home with Larry Moore, whose name is also all over the previously mentioned book. Larry and my dad were ranked #1 and #2 nationally in small bore competition in 1948 and 1949 with these rifles. This was just before the end of my dad's competitive shooting days (due to rules changes which pissed him off and made his team less competitive). It was also just before the SCHV experiments that led to the developement of the M16 in the first place. When Larry passed away number three came back to my dad and currently resides with one of my brothers in Tucson. |

A look at one of my favorites:
Y2K manufactured Remington 7400 Carbine Synthetic in .30-06. Choate 870 PistolGripStock; Redfield JR base/low matte rings; Leupold Vari-X III 4.5-14x40 AO matte scope. Powerful-Short-Fun, and a Gunwriters Nightmare of all the things they wouldn't do! The gun is a semi-auto; the scope is too big; the bbl. is too short; the stock isn't "stock"; etc. It really likes to shoot the 220-gr. Remington PSP's. I have the Harris bipod mount and BR-S bipod and a couple of 10-rd. magazines for it, making it a very versatile little carbine. I like it, and it likes me--- |
|
It is about two grand but I sold a street sweeper for $1100 so it wasn't that much out of the pocket. It is fun to shoot, I like the recoil, more than a Ar15 for sure. |

FMJunkie-
The rifle in question is a Martini-Henry and was, of course, made by BSA. It's a falling block action, as you noticed. Years ago, they were imported in large numbers to the U.S. and were the basis for a lot of custom gun projects. That's all I know about them. A 10/22 for the weekend: This is the first, last, and only firearm that I've ever purchased from wal-fart. I got this back in '94 (to give everyone a little perspective as to my wal-fart shopping frequency) and have had the action worked over by Connecticut Precision Chambering www.ct-precision.com. The trigger pull has been dropped to about 2.75 pounds, an overtravel screw has been added, the barrel has been set back, the bolt has been refaced and jeweled, and the bolt release has been modified. I'll put it up against anyone's duded up 10/22 any day, anytime, anywhere. It shoots super accurate with even cheap ammunition. It wears a Burris 4x compact in Zee rings on a B-Square mount. |

hey is that the AWP/AWM sniper rifle from COUNTER STRIKE?

|
hey how much did u pay for this? bec I saw it for $599, is that a good price? milled reciever right?

I bought it about a week before Klinton banned further imports. I paid $279, plus about another $80 for the American parts kit and stock set. CDNN Investments has them for $449 (Shotgun News ad). And finally, it is a milled receiver. There are some more current Bulgarian pattern AK's available nowadays for less money than an SLR-95. If I'm not mistaken, they have American made milled receivers and all the other parts are Bulgarian (Arsenal Corp) parts. You might want to check the AK board or if you're brave check out AK47.net. Somebody over there can probably direct you to the newer milled rifles for less money. BTW, it's suprisingly accurate for an AK, especially with the red dot instead of the iron sights. |
