I’m in the process of building a SBR chambered in .45 ACP. I live in the Communist state of Illinois where a SBR has to have an overall length of 26”,so I need to use a muzzle device that is 2.75”. The one I would like to use is the 2a Armament x4, it has the correct threads, 5/8x24, but is intended for .30 cal. Is there any chance I can have this bored to accept the .45 ACP round?

Does not look like it would have enough meat to bore it to a .45 caliber. I would be afraid of making the walls on it to thin, which would make them much easier to break.

What length barrel are you using?
Get a slightly longer barrel so you don't have to pin it.

Will need to bore the ID of the brake.

ID channels are about .320" for the 308 bullet, while you need to increase the channels to about .465" for the 45 bullet to pass through cleanly isntead.

It short work on a lathe with boring bar, so you keep the ID passage square with the bullet passing through them.

Get an 8.5 and you won't have to pin it. But if you don't want to, a reg 45cal a2 fh should work.

I'm in IL myself, did an 8.5" 9mm sbr and I'm just over the 26" without pinning.

kaw valley makes linear comps for 45 acp 5/8x24. standard is 2 1/4" long the XL is 4.25"
