Public Service Announcement: SG Ammo has some of the title ammo in stock fro 50 cents per round. I put a link in the main Ammo forum deals thread. Don't know if it is forbidden to put it here, so look there or at SG Ammo!
Ammo like this is so uncommon these days, I thought a shout out here was appropriate. Rob |

Checked the link in the ammo thread and it just comes up as access denied, did they sell out that quick.
I saw that last night (4-11-18) at the SG Ammo web site. But, I don't have anything to shoot it in. So, I wasn't interested.
Aloha, Mark |
Yeah, sorry guys. Sold out pretty fast after their daily deal email went out.
I got a can, though. Rob |
I am guessing this is Berdan primed. ???
I live in NY so I have to ship ammo to a FFL or ammo certificate holder. By the time I make those arrangements stolid is usually gone like the HXP .303. |

I snagged a can of it after they posted if on facebook yesterday. Looking forward to adding it to my stash of Greek 303.

Stupid question. Who was still using .303 in 1983? View Quote View Quote Especially Indian police units, about 50% of which are still armed with .303 Enfields today. The Jamaican police still use .303 rifles too. And the Canadian Rangers, who used .303 until 2016ish. The CIA provided Enfield rifles and .303 ammo to the Mujahadeen during the Soviet war in Afghanistan in the 1980s. |

I already received the can I bought in the first batch. It is beautiful ammo. I need to try shooting it to make sure the beauty is not only skin deep!
Rob |
I got a can when the first batch came in and picked up another last night.
Yeah, me too. Couldn't resist another can of looks-like-it-was-made-yesterday ammo at 50 cents per round.
Rob |
I bought two cans. Now I need to source an SMLE to actually use with the ammo.
Has anybody tried this stuff yet? I got my two cans but was hoping somebody would post a review of it. It is REALLY nice looking ammo though.
I still have a couple sealed cans of Greek and SA, but I think this stuff will be set back unopened for awhile.
Enfields are near and dear but please clean as if the ammo were corrosive until you know different. Best, Rob
I pulled a bullet/powder and popped the primer against some clean steel. I should know in the morning if it has a corrosive primer.

I ordered my third can a few weeks ago, might have to order a fourth!
I received my order from SGA, now I need a damn SMLE so I can shoot it!
If anyone doesn't want the brass.... I'll take it...
Just saying. :) |

My guess of source was Ireland, but Sam's not saying. I did some research and there was a surprising list of users into the '70s and '80s, like Ireland, Bermuda, and some others. No way it was India, they had their own factories and no money for fancy German ammo.
I have some spam cans of Greek .303 that I call my retirement fund, but this stuff is just as nice. |
Picked up around 20 cans over several orders for my Bren mk1. This is freaking awesome that it is even available!!! Love it!
Anyone know what size primers this takes? I only have a handful of the NO. 81 (.217) primers and about 3k of Fiocchi 250 B primers.

How does this ammo shoot? I’d like to pick up a few cans for my Vickers before it disappears.
Too beautiful for the Vickers.
I've never shot any, I just like staring at it. |
I had three bandoliers of MEN that had late 70's or early 80's dates that I have no idea the origin of and it seemed to be on par with the HXP I had at the same time with the exception of the HXP being easier to reload. Nice looking brass.
Any issues with the projectiles being bi-metallic?
Increased bore wear? I've held off purchasing the MEN .303 because it is not a fully copper jacket. |
