Another excellent read.

You should give up that working stuff and just do more writing.

Great read, and solid advice! It gave me goose bumps of anticipation!

I try and shoot at least twice a week thru out the year. This 100+ degree snap has really slowed down my scouting, and forced me to shoot indoors. It's 25 yds from my living room to dining room walls.

Thanks M4.

Very nice read.
I think most of those points are self evident to a good hunter and especially so for a dedicated bowhunter.

I still have issues with changing locations. I KNOW if I move to a new stand the deer are going to go to the
place I just left.  I have been fortunate to hunt the same lands for some 20 odd years and some places/stands
always produce. Thats what makes them so hard to leave. I have actually left a stand for 90 minutes at noon to
grab lunch and, you guessed it, there were 2 sets of fresh tracks in the snow when I got back.  I used to be able
to sit all day but now its more like torture. I can go all day in the woods but have to move about at some point.

All day sits in an older climber are near impossible. My friend has a tree lounge and he just falls asleep in his.

Well written and spot on.  I am by no means an expert or pro archer but I prefer to hunt with a bow over any other means.  One thing that really stood out was the part about knowing when to change your location.  Last year I spent three days during the second week of november hunting the same funnel that had a lot of movement and activity just the week prior.  I saw one doe  But what I didnt take into account was that the same week, the farmer had cut all of the standing corn that surrounded the area.  It changed the food/cover overnight and just as quick the deer movement too.

The neighbor started seeing lots of deer in bottom land oaks that he hunted immediatly.  Unfortunately, I had to go back home and to work and didnt get a chance.  I should have left that stand the first afternoon and scouted a better food source right away.

The good part is that the local farmer rotates between beans and corn, this year is beans and we normally see more deer during years he plants beans so I am excited and hopefully can get out to try again!

Fall is just around the corner and every bowhunter should be reading up and studying the areas they hunt.  Take note of even the smallest changes in deer activity.  Food sources change and careless hunters also can change deer movements by jumping them from beds or feeding areas or leaving scent or otherwise disturbing them.

Good luck to everyone!  Its fast approaching the most wonderful time of the year!!

Very well written and got my anticipation up as well.

This is the first year I might bow hunt, that is, if I feel my skill is there up to 30 yds. I have been shooting most every day for over an hour trying to get my bow set and especially my form. I realize the bow is only accurate as I am, and before I sight every pin in, I need to make sure  am consistent with my form. My moment of revelation was nose to string and corner of mouth, every time = tight groups consistently.
