I'm fletching arrows for the first time.

Is there any real significants to how far back you place the vanes, or how close the vane is to the nock?

I've only ever used a Bitz jig, but I think the Bohning is pretty similar, but with them, the standard used to be the 4th hash mark on the clamp.  No real reason why you couldn't tweak it one way or the other though.  Before everyone used the 2" Blazers/Fuzions/etc., sometimes I would have to hold the vanes or feathers further back to keep them out of a Wisker Biscuit on short brace height bows.
