Which brand metal AR 556 mag will have the right kind of steel that will hold to a magnet? Some of the mags I have seen say they are made of aluminum and according to google, aluminum is not magnetic.

You mentioned the magic word, steel. Avoid stainless because it isn't magnetic enough. Any other steel magazine should work.

Even a plastic P-Mag will stick to your steel safe if you epoxy/hot glue/jbweld/etc. a rare earth magnet to it.

10rd Lancers should stay in place. The steel feed lips are probably enough area to support 10rds.
