Thanks! I'll probably pick one of those up soon to round out the build. Picked up a repro CAR lock ring from another member. Other than the Lower not receiver being properly marked, this should finish out my build as far as "correctness" goes. Anyone know what rollmarks were on the actual rifles these guys used?

Aimpoint 5000 should be in Friday.

I searched through thousands of pages of PDF documents (not the Adobe kind) during Just Cause and never found anything like that. Now I know why.

Of course I didn't have a cool guy carbine and sterile BDUs, either.

I made an account over there so I could sell stuff to airsofters.  They get nit-picky about the types of 100MPH tape is used on shit.

It's fucking bad.  The whole site is on the spectrum.

I was talking about not finding the bundles of cash when I was in Panama. I had the BDUs I was issued, but being in big Army, we had to wear rank and unit patches on ours.

I also had some of these, along with OG-107 green jungle fatigues.

This is as close as I could get to a Gothic Serpent carbine with what I could find.... Almost got an Aimpoint 3000 on eBay, but I was too slow

I still love how this came together.

Nice!  Look on the EE that's where I found my 3000 a few weeks ago. I'm still trying to find a 5000 for a good price.

Man, this thread is so awesome.  Wondering if I should try to build a clone.  Getting a 14.5" Armalite flat top upper in a few days, thinking about yanking the barrel and throwing it into a fix carry handle upper.....

Just an FYI: I’ve got an Aimpoint 5000, old school Surefire and ARMS mount in the EE if anyone is looking to round out a build.

I saved a copy of this image awhile back and looked it over again last night. Guess what? I spotted something that might be interesting.

Save the image for yourself, then zoom in on the exposed barrel end where the M203 mounts.

It appears somebody did some Murphyneering using some rectangular hunks of aluminum by basically making a bar clamp for the front end mount. There is no section of pipe behind the flash suppressor to provide back pressure to keep the M203 from moving forward during firing, hence that bar clamp must be torquing things down with lots of pressure.

I could be wrong but I believe that’s a 723 which came with a lightweight barrel. Like you said the pipe/mount/adaptor was use to keep the m203 from moving around because the barrel was too thin.

I love where your head's at, but that's a flashlight mount

edited to add: that silver dot-looking thing at the front is the cross bolt for the barrel clamp.  it's in front of the flashlight mount

There has been lots of discussion on carry handle mounts for the Aimpoints
Well i just picked up this Smith Enterprise mount. I have no idea if this was an option
back in the '90s but It does use Weaver slots and not Picatinny slots.

@RockRash  I got it from a private party from my local gun forum. $10.00.

This was one of those parts I thought I'd easily come across at a local gun show or gun shop. For cheap.
But no. I've been looking for one for almost a year. Sure I could go to fleabay or the EE. But I was sure I'd find one for less than $20.00.
Still had to drive 20 miles to go pick it up. And I was not even sure who the manufacturer was.
So. I'd say you'll just have to keep your eye out.
Good luck.

actually, you have a C7 upper receiver and what appears to be an N1 buttstock.  So it's a good start

I'd use a section of Weaver rail bolted to the lower heat shield and a Weaver 1-inch scope ring to hang your weaponlight

Add a legacy Aimpoint and you'd be pretty close, these aren't difficult to set up, most of them were cobbled together with what would currently be considered junk parts

Look, I have an idea.

If you promise to put that Comp on something else, at least for a while, I'll send you an Aimpoint 1000 while you shop for a 3000 or 5000

All you have to do is say "yes, I promise to go find a 3000 or 5000" and not cross your fingers.

You don't even have to buy the 3000 or 5000, but I'm betting that once you have that 1000 on there you'll start straightening the rest of the rifle out anyhow
@BSM_135i

plot twist, you keep the Aimpoint 1000 no matter what

well, I would say start hunting for a period-correct light. this would be a gen 1 Surefire 6P or two-piece weaponlight (with an IR filter taped to the front) as well as the associated gen 1 remote pressure switch.

these parts are rather rare, so it would take some time and patience. you can find examples on page 2 of this discussion

I'd also look into a gen 1 RediMag.

Past that, you can pick up information from this discussion, and don't forget to shoot your rifle

my offer stands, just trying to encourage you
