I am wanting an ar .22 either a conversion witch is cheaper or a dedicated upper. I am inclined to go with a conversion so I can use my go to AR however I don't want to damage anything since it is my only AR

The CMMG conversion runs great for me after 4000 rounds. After 200+ rounds the gas tube will foul up and may not cycle the first round or 2 of 5.56 Also the sights past 50 yards will not be sighted in properly and will be shooting low for 22. You are better off with a separate rifle or upper if you are going to shoot a lot.

once you go from .22 back to 5.56 will it blow the crud out of the gas system in a few rounds?
