Couple of sand bags. Trick is to have enough front bag (height) for the gun to be supported level AND so where you can fire it in a comfortable position with proper sight picture, etc.

Scrap of 4x6 and an old shot bag, or cloth bag, full of sand.

I prefer QD bipods now and a monopod is very convenient too.

Honestly it isn't rocket science. I have many types of bags, rests, and a custom rest I built but all you need is something to support the front and rear of the gun. Sandbags, rolled up blanket and a rolled up towel for under the grip, anything you can find. An old inner tube filled with sand, or stuffed with old clothes, makes a great rest. I made front bags from the legs of a pair of jeans I cut off to make shorts.

I have several options, some bought and some made. My favorite is a wool blanket wrapped with just enough duct tape to make a pillow.
