I use this punch to remove the bolt catch pin (in the opposite direction of installation). I put painters tape on the lower receiver where the punch goes. Works like a champ.

I can concur on the Brownells punch, from front to rear as other said.
But installation? I dont use roll pins. I use KNS pins that work the same as the dust cover. End of needing punches after that. |

KNS offers a bolt catch pin that has a flared end on one side and uses a “C” clip on the other side.
