Which of these braces is better for about $150 ?

https://doublestarusa.com/strongarm-pistol-brace-with-spt-dsc103b

https://www.sb-tactical.com/product/sba3/

I really like the SB SBPDW but dont know if I can justify $100 more.

Any other suggestions ?

Also do all these use standard carbine springs and buffers ?

SBA3 is awesome!  It uses a standard carbine receiver extension, and you should be able to find them for under $150 in the EE or online from other vendors like Primary Arms, DSG Arms, etc.

I would also recommend checking out the Gear Head Works tailhook

pdw is just not worth it imo, especially if pistols become a mute point - a very real possibility in the next few months.  On that point a kak shockwave or other fin style brace might be better as they cost significantly less.

SBA3 is adjustable, Strongarm isn’t.

For an adjustable brace, Tailhook II or SBA3 are my favorites.

For a non-adjustable setup, Tailhook I and the KAK Tailhook buffer tube is a good looking setup as well. Just too short for me.

Someone posted in this forum some time ago that their Strongarm brace kept rotating.

"Under $150 on EE"  I'd say if you pay $150 for a used or new SBT A3 you are nuts.  You can buy them all day long for $130 when they are actually in stock.  Anyone paying more than that is too impatient and letting themselves get price gouged.

Midway, $130 but OOS.
Primary Arms, $130, IN STOCK,
AIMS, $130, IN STOCK.

There are a couple places that sell "bulk" SBA3 braces (without the tube and no packaging), including Schuyler Arms, for under $100, but they all seem to be out of stock right now. I just wanted to mention that in case some people aren't aware of that and want to keep an eye out for them. Could be useful if someone has a complete receiver or all the components already and wants to save money by getting just the brace.

Yeah look for in stock. I just bought an fde sba3 to replace a black sba3 on a build.
It was $130.

While it did help balance my suppressed 11.5”, the SBPDW really only serves aesthetics. It’s no shorter when fully collapsed than an SBA3, they use the same length buffer/tube. And it’s much heavier than the SBA3.

The Maxim PDW is different, as it uses a shorter buffer/tube, making it shorter when fully collapsed than either of the SB braces.

The SBA3 and SBA4 are as good as they get. My only complaint with the SBA4 is the forward position of the QD sling swivel socket.
